Mmmm, yummy.

Also correct me if im wrong but wasnt the Ford Focus the World Championship winning rally car at one stage ?

Yes. The Focus WRC was also 4WD.

I love the marketing mumbo jumbo about the FWD tech. I'll translate it for you:

"We couldn't build a 300bhp 4WD car at a price point to compete with Subaru or Mitsubishi so we've done some analysis to see what people actually care about. Our results show that peak power is all the matters and so we opted for FWD. We've done some clever stuff so the car isn't lethal to drive."

I'd bet heavily on the evo winning around a track. If I'm wrong I'll put my hands up and admit, it's a good car, yet it still looks like a chavs wet dream, to use Tommy B's phrasing.

That is how I kind of read it aswell

I know that with a decent LSD and equal length shafts you can put good power down in a FWD but they do not make the best handling cars, AWD amd RWD will always be better for a drivers car (which the RS is meant to be)

However good the RS is it will will allways be known for it not being AWD

Higher power output and AWD, the more advanced Mitisi tech, as I said, I might be wrong, it's just a gut feeling.

If Ford do pull it off and make something fantastic, all the best to them, I would just never have one on the basis of the horrible, horrible looks.

Well firstly - the Focus may weigh less than the Evo and secondly the Focus won't suffer with drivetrain losses as much as the Evo.

I really can't see either car spanking the other tbh.

interior is nice and the front end is ok, the rest is pretty awful though and I really cannot see the point in a 300bhp fwd car. What is the point in so much power if you can't use it do go sideways at will?

As I have repeated multiple times, I may well be wrong, but I just seem to have a feeling it'll be the evo that wins out; perhaps we'll see when it comes out.

Doesn't take away from the fact that I think it looks idiotic.

+1

Didn't someone post that they knew someone who was testing one and it did a 8.17 round the 'ring?

Yes, but pinch of salt perhaps...

I do think Ford should have gone AWD, however, I also think that you can engineer 300bhp through the front wheels. It can be done without horrendous steering corruption and with impressive results.

Let's wait and see.

That looks awful and doesn't drive properly.

It'll even look worse by the time it hits the road (if)

its simple physics, and unless Ford have changed the rules of physics a FWD car wont have as much traction under acceleration as a 4WD. Anyone thinking 300BHP in a FWD is better (with technology) than a 4WD is simply a loon -especially in the UK, with our roads and weather...

Compare 0-60 times for an extreme example.

Also, i have to say i believe the styling to be too much. It looks like a facelift Foucs ST2 with a Max Power kit. Flame away, just my opinion...
