MMO To get my teeth into?

From what I have seen wildstar is a grindy game.
I had a deluxe code given to me as a favour, so il be trying it out tomorrow to see what its like. every other mmo I have tried I have always gone back to wow, nothing compares to its openness, its end content and just other stuff you can do besides raiding and pvp

I have played WoW since its launch 2004. I finally quit in Jan 2013. It just go so repetitive with its daily system.

I've been in all the Wildstar betas too, and have learned enough to pre-order the game and set up annual subs. I found it was a fun grindy, but not any more grindy than WoW. There are tons more to do whilst leveling with, path missions, quests and challenges. The combat system is more aim than "tab target", and you can actually move out of a mobs hit zone. The crafting system looks more fun and customisable than WoW too. Not ventured into PvP much, but with Warplots, housing and multiple path dungeons and raids. Wildstar in my opinion has bucket loads to offer over WoW.

I was really into guild wars 1 and nothing has hooked me like that since, dabbled in lotro for a while but I don't like the feeling of playing mmo's anymore since they turn me into a zombie.

Maybe the problem is they are all samey to play and we need something revolutionary to happen again. I am looking forward immensely to star citizen...

TERA has probably the best combat system in an MMO I've ever experienced. It truly is an excellent game to level upto 60...after that the grind begins to set in as you set out to acquire your gear. Also depending on your server it can be hard to get groups for higher end quests as a lot of better geared folk have elitist attitudes since they don't wish to die whilst helping newbies. Everyone's experience varies on the latter though.

Overall it is a great title if you can find a good group of friends to play with and quest together. The ingame world is insanely beautiful. My main biggest issue with Tera was that the world just did not feel alive. No ambient sounds in cities, no NPCS walking around - all stationary, towns just felt dead. Guild Wars 2 got this spot on imo but I didn't last long in that.

Black Desert and ArchAge do look quite interesting and I'm keeping my eyes peeled on those.

Edit: Imo MMO's have been 'dead' for years now. We really do need something to jumpstart the genre. A company to actually take the risks.

From my perspective if you played wow for a long time and really want a new experience, i would say everything is junk in comparison. There is nothing creative enough and really pushes the bounderies like wow did.

Wildstar even though maybe a refreshing experience for some, it really isn't ground breaking. With 70% of the game including re-hashed mechanics from the rest of solid mmo's out there, i don't believe this will be the wow replacing experience you were hoping for.

There will be a ground breaking mmo again some day like wow, but at the moment there is nothing that will satisfy a serious wow players appetite for a long time.

Haven't been entertained with MMO's since TBC in WOW, for me that was the best game i ever played and after that with the release of each new expansion it just kept going down hill all the way.

Tried SWTOR but i had to quit at like lv 25 as it was so boring to level in, haven't tried any MMO's since. Wildstar looks like it's a boring grind to max lv but once there it looks really good.

Damn, i remember giving it a try with the squid herder thought it was actually decent but after having kids hardly any time for any mmos lol

Warhammer Online was an amazing game. Sadly the effect of World of Warcraft addiction, and the addition of their new expansion being released around the time of Warhammer Online meant that the only people who stayed put were either:

1. Die-hard Warhammer fantasy fans
2. Total MMO newbies

The servers became quiet very quickly, as they relied on players to keep the game interesting. It was a very sad end to a game with such good promise - I blame WoW entirely!

On the subject of WoW, I'm not sure what the attraction is/was?
I had played Legend of Mir for about 4yrs, Everquest 2 for 3yrs, yet could only manage 3 months on WoW without getting bored.

Giving Age of Conan another look, it's held up really well. Still mucking around Tortage though, be interesting to see how the game after that has improved.
