MMO's to play now!

If you want the only (99%) F2P MMo with tons of content for both solo and group then there is only AION. The combat and PvP is second to none and there is NO GRIND! plus you can level to cap without having to purchase any expansions as you get everything as standard. Server populations are nearly always full across the board.

Another shout for Aion from me.

It has an excellent art style and the combat chain system is very nice.

As eekfek has said, there is barely anything you have to grind when levelling but do bare in mind that there are some limitations to the f2p crowd. The most annoying of them is no use of the player market system and no posting on looking for group board. However not having access to the broker isn't a gamebreaker as you can get decent armours and weapons through quests which give you coins.

@eekfek: What server you on?

Thats the thing about MMO's, bad launch = tainted for the rest of their days, even the Realm Reborn version of FF will have a hard time convincing a lot of people that it will be a better game, purely because the original incarnation of it sucked b4ll$ hugely.

I agree Vanguard was terribad at release, yes the graphics compared to a lot of more recent games arent as great, however with todays PC's, you can set everything to ultra and it looks pretty damn good.

And you will never be able to argue the game has not much content, it has so much content you could probably level 3 or 4 characters without repeating anything

got Asmo's on Spatalos and Eylos on Perento..yours ?

Tera is amazing visually and the gameplay is decent too. Only downside is that it a real grind fest, however, as you're after a game which will remove the social side of your life for a few months this could be perfect for you.

Tried EVE? It's nothing like WoW and it'll take a bit of getting into but if you enjoy being industrious, there's a lot to do. You can also buy game-time with in-game credits so it's something to spur you on to play more as you can save even more money.

Aion? No grind? Has it changed massively since launch. I eventually quit due to the massively repetitive grindfest that levelling was.

Quests are the new grind in most MMOs now anyway. Because they're so repetitive they can feel like mob grinding back in the day. Most of them are kill X amount of Y which is no different. I'd like to see more involving quests in MMOs. WoW and GW2 mix it up now and again with the odd unique quest based on a particular situation, and these are refreshing and fun, but they only feel like they take up 10% and the other 90% of quests are just grinding mobs. I guess it requires too much work to produce more. Single player RPGs tend to have more interesting quests but these are considerably shorter. It'll be interesting to see what the quests are like in the upcoming Elder Scrolls MMO.

This is why The secret world is awesome - the questing is great and feels like your playing a single player rpg in that respect.

Well I never played it at release but plenty of the guys in my legion/guild have and they have told me it is massively different. You can quite comfortably level a new character up to cap in a few weeks now without having to do a tonne of repeatable quests as you had to before.

Off topic,

Does anyone know if they are changing the combat in TSW? I love the game but stopped logging in 2 weeks ago cause the combat really drags the game down, (same 4 moves etc).

Cost me £13 or something got 30 hours or more out of it, if combat changes I'll go back

So, someone from these forums has got in touch and we are starting new characters together on WoW! To be honest, really excited, it's a game we know and previously liked and will be fun playing together as we are on a PVP server, so no doubt we will get some ganking in :P

I chose a warrior, a class I have never played before and he will be going mage I think.

Others welcome to join. I don't think we will stick side by side 100% of the time, but certainly try to play at the same times. I got to level 9 tonight, like 90 mins play. He will be on tomorrow before me, so will catch up.
