Only got an iPhone 2g though, will this affect it? it's running OS 3.1.

I dont think the 2G does GPS one of the things that I like is that I can track my phone with GPS using mobile me, does that feature work with your phone? Other than that I dont see anything else that wouldnt work with it

Been a member since 14/02/2007.. I'd say it depends if you want the iDisk.

All the other features are free with Google. I'm unsure about keeping it at this point :(

I've always really liked having iDisk. It's great having all my importants backed up to the iDisk, so when i reformat it grabs all that data automatically straight back to my computer.

I'm not sure if the price is justifiable but maybe that's my fault for not using the service to it's full potential. I do like the push email, the push email has saved me a few times with people hacking into accounts on things. The precious few seconds it got to me gave me time to change details quickly.

I usually love it but unfortunately mail was offline on both the web interface and my iphone for about half an hour this morning, the half hour during which I needed to get a promotional 20% off code out of my email, so I've just paid £50 more than necessary for some stuff, which I'm deeply unhappy about.

That said, could happen with any provider at the end of the day.

Oh I agree the iDisk is good if you like to keep offsite backup but it's slow to access in my experience.

I like the way I can format my iPhone and pull down all my contacts in less time it takes to make a cuppa :)

The push email is amazing, but I outright refuse to use @me.com. Instead I use my @mac.com.

Hehe! I still predominantly use .mac email more!

It's great that i effectively have 2 email addresses for the price of 1 though! :D

Or am i being stupid and you can actually have more email addresses set up to me?

I'd say give the 60day trial and go and see for yourself! :)

You can create any alias you want.

For example.. if you had [email protected] but didn't fancy giving it to a website to sign up, you could create an alias of "[email protected]" and it would come through to your @mac.com as normal.

Delete the alias if you're getting spammed = no more spam.

Google Mail + Calendar + Contacts (all via Push) + DropBox (inc. iPhone Client) = all the fun of Mobile Me* with none of the cost!

* Excluding Where is my Phone and Back to My Mac (although LogMeIn Free will give you remote access).

I find it very useful, not sure I'd pay the full cost but I'm happy to pay £40/year for it (via eBay)

Sorry to hijack but I've just got a new MBP and also have my Touch as well. I currently use a Hosted Exchange solution for secondary email but predominantly for sync of my Calender and Contacts.
Is it worth me getting MobileMe and ditching Exchange or should I just stick with Exchange??

This.

Waste of money, just use Google, it's free. I'm not going to renew my account.

Stick with Exchange. If you don't need the iDisk online storage you aren't gaining anything.

Obviously, if it's cheaper then it might be worth changing or if you're feeling tight you can do the whole Gmail thing (free)

if i sign up for a free trail of mobile me i have to enter my card number but if i cancel the account before the three months end can i pick the account back up with a mobile me from ebay ?

You don't have to automatically renew the subscription, but yes, you could continue with a voucher code from eBay.

A lot of people do it. Myself included.

If you do buy from eBay, make sure it's a full account not a 5GB sub-account as I got scammed along with many other people buying one of these.
