MobileMe

I'm glad this is coming, in fact it's made my .Mac account something to look forward to again.

I never really used the Address Book syncing, but the addition of the push email, double storage, and swanky web interface it could persuade me to totally drop my Gmail account.

Drop gmail?! :p

I won't use it. Don't use calendars etc, and if I need storage I can use RS. Plus the email is covered with my gmail account and student email.

Apple have posted a neat FAQ for those that already have a .Mac account.. explains a lot about keeping the @mac.com address.

No worries.. I can't wait to test MobileMe out when it arrives.

Inputting ALL your contacts in the iPhone can be very tiresome, so I'll be creating the Address Book entries on my Mac and pushing them to the iPhone :D

The iDisk sharing is a good way to distribute files too.. I think I'm more excited about this than the iPhone tbh.

I got .Mac but was unsure whether to keep it because I wasn't really using all the features.

Now with MobileMe i'm really lucking forward to it.

Mail, Calendar, Contacts, iDisk (with the handy email a link with a password/download limit on it) are all going to make this worth it for me :)

Of course I could fudge together Gmail and Windows Live SkyDrive but since you can mount your iDisk in Windows it's actually better than Windows Live SkyDrive too!

Time to "retire" the Gmail soon :( :D

You do know that this can be done already, and contacts are then sync'd when you sync in iTunes?

Yes, but at the moment you need to activate .Mac syncing and do it via Address Book on the Mac.

The web page is the main thing I'm waiting to test

Also, if it does the syncing over-the-air then it's all goooooood...

I think it's the over-the-air aspect that's the main improvement myself. Set it and forget it.

The only thing I'm interested in is the over the air sync. Just a shame they've bundled it with all the other stuff and charged for it, rather than provide local over the air sync for free.

Will it sync with the iphone via wifi or via the 3g? if you know what i mean. In other words will you have to have a wifi connection to recieve stuff on your iphone via mobileme?

If they've implemented it properly, it should use the fastest available connection first, just like e-mail retrieval works at the moment.

ie, Wifi (if available), else cellular
