MobileMe

I can see every one and their dog signing up for a .Mac trial before MobileMe comes out, so they can get an @mac.com email.

I just have!! I dont want know ghey me.com, my e-peen would be so small with a me.com

my little macbook when it arrives is gonna be so pleased. Think im gonna call it oliver.

if i sign up for a .mac trial now, will i get upgraded to a trial of mobileme? as will i get to keep the mac.com and me.com addresses?

On the trial?

Not sure, it's likely the trial would continue in the same fashion, and if you registered you'd get a @mac.com account, but if the trial ends after the introduction of MobileMe expect it to only give you a @me.com address.

You could always buy a .Mac retail box, keep it on the shelf until Mobile Me goes live and see what you want to do.

Anyone know if you can use your domain email address instead of a @mac or @me
Been doing a lot of googling on this topic and so far there is no definitive answer...but speculation seems to point to push e-mail being limited to @mac/@me addresses. I really hope this doesn't turn out to be the case 'cause I don't want to have to go down the route of upgrading my domain accounts to Exchange.

I'd say that MobileMe's functionality is going to be limited to Apple's own accounts ;)

Which will be a real shame.

What I want to be able to do is set up MobileMe to push e-mail from [email protected] to my iPhone and then reply from my iPhone to that e-mail using [email protected].

The workaround of setting up a mail forwarder to [email protected] (which will then get pushed to my iPhone) and then replying using [email protected] (rather than [email protected]) just ain't gonna cut it as far as I'm concerned. :(

I'm with you on this one. I really fancy the functionality of Mobile Me, especially the web interface, but I like using my own domain too. Maybe we can use forwarders, use apple's IMAP server and our own SMTP?

The family pack for .mac is one user with the full 10gig, then four more users with 2gig each.

MobileMe will be the same, but double everything - so I main user with 20gig, then four more users with 4gig each.

You could always create a single account, then configure 4 different email aliases so replying to emails is done via one account, but at the cost of 1 license.

It won't be to everyone's taste.. but it's viable.
