MobLand

It's a decent watch, a bit unrealistic with the
bombing of houses
but it's not Gangs of London levels of stupidity.

The dialogue is lacking compared to most Guy Ritchie films, bit too serious, not enough witty one-liners.

I prefer the more serious take without too much Guy Ritchieness. Some of the characters seem to think they're in a Guy Ritchie production whereas Tom Hardy , Paddy Considine etc definitely don't.

Plus will someone please stop Helen Mirren doing Oirish accents, that's 2 Mrs Doyle's in a row. Although it's a decent psychotic character.

From what I can see on wiki, Guy Ritchie is not the creator / showrunner / writer etc , but has directed a couple of episodes and is an executive producer. Also it started off life as a Ray Donovan spin off.

Enjoying it , quite brutal and very much carried by Tom Hardy.

Tom Hardy is carrying this and doing an outstanding job. It's great to watch so far, usually try and avoid watching series until it's finished and i can binge.
Brosnan and Mirren are a bit disappointing so far, I imagine theres a lot more to Mirrens character.

Really enjoying the show so far.

Guess I’m the only gun nerd that shouted “That’s the wrong reticule for a SUSAT!” when Harry’s oppo was on over watch with an L85.

I've stopped watching, it's not terrible, it's just painfully generic to the point where not even Tom Hardy can save it as like the rest of the show his character is generic af

All it’s got going for it is a good cast, all of whom have been given poorly/lazily written characters to work with.

Hardy, Brosnan, Mirren, Considene

That it four truly heavyweight actors and all their characters are the absolute definition of “meh”, Considene in particular.

i get what you mean its getting a bit paramount series and it is generic but the last couple of episodes have notched it up a bit. worth a watch.

I'm surprised that I have enjoyed it as much as I have. As many have said it is quite generic in both writing and style, but it does have an energy that pushes each episode along quite confidentially. I cannot help but get the impression that the writers watched MrInbetween and wanted to do something slightly similar.

who'd of thought a tv program about gangs/mob bosses being unrealistic

the thing is they have to amp it up for tv viewing. gangs of london was comedy gold though...total BS :D this at least seems okay for now. think most realistic gangster series of late if you havent seen em is kin or love and hate. they are pretty much spot on.

Loving this its brilliant. City of Ours is ok but too slow and Gangs of London is just a bit wacky (although loved it too)

It is very entertaining, but finding Helen Mirrens Character very unbeleivable. For example her having another phone in the bedside cabinet, that Brosnan doesn't know about, and how easily she goes behind his back all the time, and the bit about her saying more or less the Rat could be right in front of him and he wouldn't know, is all a bit slapstick. And then she blurts out she had a text saying the other mob has the brother and sister, and there is no major discourse about why she withheld that info. Or indeed we never saw how she got out of showing him the non-existent text message. Her character doesn't have much depth, and to be fair, neither does Brosnan's.

Looks like Harry's wife is getting set up to be the patsy as the "rat". And Harry isn't going to take that at all well.

Harry's scenes are all very worth watching, and now we have a new character in play, that looks like might set him up for some sort of compromising decision.
