Anyone help me with my fault please...

When i switch on the pc, all the fan's seem to work e.t.c, Everything kicks in, But i keep getting constant short beeps, Which indicates a fault, Checked the manual of the Mobo, And says "Power Issue", I've only had this mobo since last Monday, And haven't been able to get it to post yet, Just doesn' t seem to fire up properly. Been to get it checked at our local pc tech guy, And he says he checked everything bar the Mobo and CPU and said the rest were fine, But he couldn't test the MOBO OR CPU he says.. Ive just got back from purchasing a new CPU Intel Pentium Dual Core E5400 @ 2.7GHz Processor, Installed it and still get the same problem, So it only leaves me with the Mobo, Which could be the Fault at hand. Is this the case?
Many Thanks.

Is the 4 or 8 pin power attached for the cpu power - sometimes gets missed.
Re-check all power connectors are tight.

I Have all the power connectors in place properly, got 2x 4 pin 12V connectors and 1 of them is connected the other loose, as it connected by the same cables.

some cpu's require a BIOS update to make them compatible, worth checking the board makers site to see if the cpu's you have used are compatible for the BIOS thats on the board.

1, clear cmos first, with power from mains disconnected.

2, can you try it with just one stick of ram in, graphics card and one hard drive, no sound card or anything that isnt nescesary.

Re-check all your connections - unattatch and reattach all PSU connections also reseat the memory and the gfx card. All very basic - but a worthy process - it's amazing how many times this type of problem is solved by pressing a component/connection into place, even after numerous posts of testing.

If that doesn’t yield any results then, as above, reset the CMOS and then run a skeleton setup - just the cpu, memory, gfx (but not the hdd) - and nothing else (this means that you're *not* to connect: sata connections, usb devices, optival drives, HDD, pci cards etc to the MB or any PSU connections to any of the devices you haven't got connected).

If you still can't boot into the BIOS with the 1 stick try the stick in a different slot etc, if that doesn't work try the other stick in different slots.

If you manage to get into the BIOS - check settings for the memory and CPU etc and post back.

EDIT: What is the beep code your getting? (how many beeps, short long etc?)

Right its posted, its on the skeleton setup, cpu, gfx and 1 stick of ram. although it didn't work until i put the 1 stick into the 3rd slot, why's that? not sure on what to do now, the screen just has a lot of information on.
At the bottom of the screen it says
Verifying DMI POOL DATA................... UPDATE SUCESS
DISK BOOT FAILURE. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

What do i do?

Silly question, did you have the ram in slots 1 & 3?

The Disk boot failure means you have no hard disc connected or the hard disc has no operating system installed.

You need to get into the BIOS - hold down the delete key during post.

When you're in the BIOS confirm that the memory and cpu settings are correct. The memory in particular - check the timing and manually input the correct voltage. Save and exit - then enter the BIOS again and confirm that the settings have taken.

Once you've done this you may need to flash the BIOS to the latest version and then run memtest on each stick and then run some other tests - but for now get into the BIOS.

Ive got 4 Sticks of Geil 1GB Ram all were connected prior. Then when it finally booted it was with 1 of the sticks in the 3rd Ram slot, as it wouldn't boot in 1st and 2nd.

Ive checked the memory and cpu settings. i believe and the memory timings were 5-5-5-5-18 or something along those lines, but i remember that mine run on 4-4-4-4-12 or again something along those lines, the CPU was set at 266*8 and reading 1.70GHz surely that isn't right? As you can tell im not good with PC's so how would i go about getting the Right Clock Speed for my Processor E5400 @ 2.7GHz?

Ok, your problem is that it's running the CPU at the wrong speed and at the wrong frequency - and your memory is probably suffering as a result. Which explains why your having problems...

Change the FSB for now - to 200 and up the multiplier to 12 then save and exit and post back.

I realise this isn't the correct settings - but you will probably have to flash the BIOS to get the additional settings that your need. For now we need to get your system stable so we can flash the BIOS to recognise the CPU.

Im actually on the pc now, its stable i guess atm, just running the 1 stick of ram atm. won't boot up in 1st and 2nd slots, Core Clock speed is running at 2.5Ghz. Ram i have is this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

OK, i'm downloading your manual - could you confirm what speed the memory is running at? (it should be running 800Mhz.) Also bump the voltage for the memory up to 2.3v as it's within spec (this is very high but hopefully you will be able to lower this later once you've flashed the BIOS)

won't boot up in 1st and 2nd slots

Is this still the case - have you tried any other slots since you changed the FSB?

Once we're sure all the settings are correct we need to flash the BIOS.

EDIT: could you confirm what the memory voltage was set at before?

Once you've upped the voltage up to 2.3v - try running 2 sticks.

Yer its running at 800Mhz, ill just bump the voltage up after this post to 2.3, no haven't changed any yet, still the 1 in 3rd slot. Erm i believe it was on Auto before, and that's what im running it at now i think 1.8V

Ok, bump it up to 2.3 (its highest setting) save and exit. Then try running 1 stick in slot 1 - If that works try running the system with 2 sticks - don't be tempted to try 4 there's no need for now.

Post back...

Right it works at 2.3, but only in slots 3 and 4, tried 1 stick in slot 1, constant short beeps, tried in 2, and the same, 3 and 4 are ok, i have got 2 sticks now in, 1 in each of 3 and 4.

Well we'll work on the theory for now that these issues may be resolved with a BIOS flash - and if not we'll deal with them then (maybe not tonight.)

Do you know how to flash the BIOS and have you got a USB pen?
