Modding my car :)

Also honest opinion is that I was never intending to get the Turbo, only planning on the exhaust kit, but for a short while I was slightly tempted :)

I think the whole car looks good except them bloody headlights. The normal ones look best if you ask me.

The STI lights look best on a bug, followed by the Prodrive UK300 lights - as AM has here. Morrettes look silly unless you also remove the hideously oversized fog lights. Even changing them for driving lights doesn't work. I've seen some other third-party lights that look similar to the UK300 lights but with the bulbs in different positions - they were OK too. And there used to be carbon-fibre Prodrive lights, but they were as rare as rocking horse excrement.

As for the whole modding thing, my feeling remains: change the exhaust and see if this fixes the problem. If it does, think about mods very carefully. Pushing a WRX to 330-340bhp is just storing up trouble. I'd aim for a more modest 300 or so, which is far less likely to go bang. I understand the "family car" thing, and there's no doubt that a WRX is more child friendly than an STI (at least until the kids are old enough to boast about daddy's car at school). But a WRX is really not the weapon for major mods - that's what STIs are for.

The spoiler I do love, but the options for the headlights are limited.

I think the 2nd image is the best looking lights.

Is this your lights just sprayed silver?

If so do that, look much better, I'd also put a regular front grill back in, get the wheels refurb and painted black and I think that would transform the car into a very clean looking car.

Spray headlights - £50
Front grill - £100 for used one?
Wheel refurb plus paint - £200-£300 for powder coated job.

So with wheels sub £500 to make it looks a really clean example and with your mods thats a total of about 1k spent but in my oppinion it would be clean and a pretty rapid car. :)

Sorry, well late to the thread, been there and done this myself. Probably all been said but my tuppence worth would be..
Nothing wrong with modding a WRX but don't be over ambitious, don't try and turn it into an Sti, don't get carrried away with the whole modding scene and keep it well within your financial means. Also don't just focus on powah, to be safe you should also think about some level of upgrade to the brakes at least, Sti's have those big Brembos for a reason.

Other than that enjoy. Lot of hate for the bugeye but they're great value for what you get imo.

Lose that spoiler though ;)

The car looks fine to me the rear spoiler is a little odd but not by far the worst I have seen. If you are having a few issues with the fueling then getting that sorted should make the car drive nicer and as you say an exhaust and possibly a re-map will give it that bit more go go.
Tbh if the car is used for transporting kids do you really want to add more power and possibly a loud exhaust ? I would feel a bit of an idiot if I was driving my kids around in a snarling scooby but thats just my opinion.
The car looks ok as is and spending lots of money trying to make it something its not seems a bit of a waste to me especially if funds are tight. Enjoy it for what it is and when funds allow then upgrade or buy better...

My 10p worth of uselessness....

No, the headlights in that picture are Morette Headlights, which are the best for bugeye.

Get a nice kit on it, change the wheels, and put an STI Spoiler and bonnet scoop on it,

with a few other bits n bobs and it will look much better along with a better exhaust as the std one looks crap.

Need to get the lights like on the blue one above, those ones in silver look like they came straight out of ripspeed or something.

+1

Get the normal looking lights, a nice exhaust system and be done :)

Then enjoy the car rather than upgrading it for the sake of upgrading it.
