Dolph - haven't seen anyone answer, but it was Gordan Brown in 1996 I think

Indeed it was our current PM. It's such a shame that he completely and utterly forgot his own words of wisdom and did exactly what he warned against, and it's going to hurt exactly who he said it would...

Realistically, you can either trust Labour (who made the mess, both this time, and the two previous times the country has been in this position), or trust the Tories, who are unpopular precisely because they've fixed this problem twice before...

Summed it up perfectly for me.

I can't believe so many people are blind to these simple facts.

That's a contradiction in terms.

I can dream can't I? Although I have to admit, the evidence is not hopeful.

I just can't believe the size of the correction my brain is telling me we are headed for. I think some of the general public may just about be beginning to twig with all this Greek stuff in the news.

I simply cannot see how the current expenditure (public and private) can be replaced in a fast enough time frame by private industry. So with one party we face a 25% armagedon now and then a other 75% down the line. Or with the other 2, 150% armagedon down the line.

What a fantastic choice. Revolution now or later then.

Labour voter here, primarily to keep the tories out. As much as i admire the local tory candidate for his support of the nuclear industry in our area, i shudder to think what the cuts in public spending would mean for our region.

I do have some sympathy with labour, for one reason, with the financial crisis and the bailout of the banks (which to tories apposed) what would have happened if the bailout didn't occur? how much worse a situation we would have been in if the financial system collapsed. We will never know what would have been the outcome if the Conservatives were in government during that period. Personally I think Labour have done a good job over the financial crisis. I'm not saying though that they've got everything right especially the deficet spending after they departed from the Conservative plans in the early 2000's. You can't blame everything on Labour. (I'm not a supporter of any party I just vote on who I think is best for the country and not what benifits me personally)

I think the Tories should win, lest robgmun's head actually explodes with rage.

You mean if they lose?

I just can't believe the size of the correction my brain is telling me we are headed for. I think some of the general public may just about be beginning to twig with all this Greek stuff in the news.

So now you understand why we need to deal with it now before it gets worse?

Total rubbish. You can't trust Labour because they've done nothing to earn your trust based on the last 13 years of government. In fact based on past performance it would be sensible to distrust them until most of the current Labour cabinet have been long gone from politics.

You can't trust the Conservatives because they have a habit of screwing up the economy as well - 1992 and 1974 spring to mind. Maybe you can exclude Thatcher as she is rather unique and is far more infamous for screwing up society rather than the economy.

The only party worthy of any sort of "trust" is the LibDems because they haven't been in power for donkeys years so haven't screwed up. I use inverted commas because I don't think you can really trust anyone until they've earnt it, and the LibDems certainly haven't done that because they haven't done anything. It would be better to say that the only party you have no reason to distrust are the LibDems.

Though i don't get a vote, even though the foreign minister is repossible for my country, its time for change. Under labour the amount of money wasted over 13 years is barmy. More mangers than new nurses, nice way to improve the health service. Biggest gripe with labour has to be the Human Rights Act. That ira terrorist try and bomb my school and get shot dead trying, yet they have the right to life?
On education again more money wasted on school tables and targets. If an ex government minister has to move houses to get into the school they want, what does this tell you about the school in the area they came from.
Who cares what the torries did 30 years ago? What people care about is that in the last 13 years the country has 176 billion pound debt and the tax payer paying loads of cash to imigrants who have never ever given anything to system.
I would vote tory even though that with them i could lose my job through cuts.
