For all of you who are voting tory, surely this picture is so offensive that you will change your mind please?

Who's the cool dude in the shades at the top? LOL

I continue to be amazed at the level of support for the Lib Dems given their crazy defence policies :o

It's better than being put in a concentration camp by authoritarian Labour in a couple of years time or having Cameron give away my tax money to people for getting married.

surely a tax break means they simply pay less, rather than money is given to them?

I'm not totally informed on the exact method they are planning, however the end result is the same, a more unfair benefit/tax system, where less people are paying more tax. What I like about the Lib Dems is that they plan to raise the allowance to £10k so that the system is fairer, should be at least minimum wage ideally however because taxing people on the money they need to buy food is moronic.

Why ?

Do you think a Labour poster of chavs getting ripped on cheap cider who are fighting and puking on a set of steps while others torch a car or perhaps take a dump on the vice-chancellor's desk would better represent ?

And AV is worse, which is my point, and is what Labour are offering (the Lib Dems don't have any more chance of getting true PR out of Labour than they do the Tories).
I'm not sure it's necessarily 'worse' - it does at least give a voice to the 'tactical' voters in that their 2nd choice might get the position and so each elected MP at least has a degree of support from the majority of the constituents. That said, if the opportunity is there for some reform, it seems sensible to consider a number of systems, AV, STV, MMP etc/

So would I, please don't get me wrong, however I think I disagree with the lib dems on their preferred proportional representation (they want STV, I prefer MMP/AMS), but I'm not convinced that the country is truly ready for proportional representation yet, because it will massively change the political landscape. I can see all three major parties fragmenting under PR, as there are ideological groupings within each of them, although the Lib dems could suffer the most with the split between liberals and social democrats over many issues...
I'm fairly indifferent between STV and MMP, they are both a radical shift from the current position and would shake-up politics.

I don't know about you, but I see the fragmentation of the three major parties to be a good thing so I can hardly say I'm worried about that :p As I've posted before I would anticipate a split between the Europhile/Eurosceptic Tories, the Old/New Labour and the LD split you've highlighted. Anything that moves away from adversarial system I think is a good thing - the last thing I would want is the UK to move further towards the ridiculous system in the US where you have 2 parties at each others throats becoming more and more divisive - the fact we have 3 competing major parties is a good thing and it's unfortunate that the voting system does not at present reflect this.

*edit*

Also in terms of timing - it's probably not ideal due to external circumstances, but then this opportunity might not come up again for decades, I would take electoral reform at a less-than-ideal time, rather than put it off indefinitely.

This poll is pointless.

Anyone who has been around here longer than a few months allready knows the political makeup of this forum, the poll just backs this up.

If the rest of the country votes in the same way as this forum, I will eat my hat. Well, I dont wear a hat so I will eat my pants.

Labour on pretty much the same as "Others", really?

You do have a point, it is pretty obvious to anyone who reads this forum that it predominently right wing more so than the general population. Not that its a bad thing its good to read a variety of viewpoints.

ROFL

What is there to be disgusted by?

I do not see what is illegal about it.

Just merely presenting the facts of who to vote for if you do not wish to have a Conservative government.
I dislike tactical voting, ultimately you're voting for someone whom you may not neccesarily want. It is disgusting in my opinion, it's encouraging/telling people how to vote (see post above yours). Not to mention there is no guarantee of a lab-lib coalition.

I think you'll find a lot of people who are considering 'tactically' voting are very amenable to a hung Con/LD parliament with electoral reform on the agenda rather than wanting a specifically wanting a LabLib coalition - arguably the predominant reason for tactical voting is disenfranchisement due to the FPP system in the first place.

I would say it is just as valid to vote against someone you dislike, by the only means possible under our system as it is to vote for someone you like, especially if you are prepared to accept the compromise that is the 'tactical-vote' individual as your MP.

Even the Guardian for example, in endorsing the LibDems, is tacitly endorsing tactical voting to achieve a hung Parliament rather than actively endorsing a LibDem majority government which is virtually impossible under the current system.
