Blame the rules, that is the more important issue than tyres.

Because he didn't run, he got to choose compound. No over taking and being able to run longer. While everyone else due to rain, went very very easy on the tyres and stretched it as long as they could.

Now he gets to run the softs, with track rubbered in and less than half the fuel weight.

Didn't he do the same with his second set of tyres last year or the year before? Went for a stupid long run until it was red flagged?
