Monaco Grand Prix 2013, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Merc are said to be bringing a rear suspension upgrade and new brake ducts, which are supposedly targetted at tyre life. I seriously doubt it will be a massive change, without a completely new car say next year, its unlikely to come full circle and match a Ferrari or anything, but a little improvement can go a long way, particularly when you have the worst tyre wear.

The car is a major major improvement over last year, its fastest consistently in qualifying rather than at only a couple tracks, its faster in race and finishing consistently higher with better points scoring with only one "bad" race so far(also the worst race in the calendar for tyre wear so that is behind them now), it also has improved tyre wear compared to last year, just still behind everyone else.

I would guess that given the speed advantage and the general qualifying ability, they can and will primarily focus on tyre wear and ways to fix it.

I'm not at all convinced they'll win here, particularly if the rear suspension is a huge change they might take a while to find the cars feet, pole isn't assured anyway and if the car changes that might make it harder to get out front. I do think at some stage of the season they'll get a win, being upfront more consistently, getting poles, safety cars, rain, having a genuinely fast car will put them in position to take advantage of situations much more often than being 6th and below.

I seriously doubt they can win Monaco without starting on pole unless some funny safety car shenanigans happen throughout the race.

The look on Jenson's face when the Journo asked Lewis and Sutil about their relationship.
