Monaco Grand Prix 2013, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Interesting*ish* tyre fact from FP1

Only 2 cars used more than 1 set of tyres. Vettel and Webber. Both did an initial shakedown lap, then changed to a new set of tyres. Both sets were the soft tyre

Longest single stint came from rosberg with 29 laps, and also did the most in total.

Any news on if this was towards the limit of the tyres? If the Softs go 30 laps the Super Softs will be less, making this a 2 stop race. You would need 40+ on the Softs to make it with 1 stop.

Not yet, but given that the tyre munching mercedes managed the most laps on them and was still putting in decent lap times at the end of the stint, as the track rubbers in, 40 may be a possibility.

But we'll find out more about the tyres this afternoon as they'll start using the super softs and they'll have had a chance to analyse the data from this morning.

Thats a shame. A definite 2 stopper would mean people could push a bit, but if a 1 stop is just about possible it means an afternoon of tyre saving and cruising around. You won't be able to do a Ferrari and gun it and take an extra stop here, there just isn't the passing opportunities.

Ant and Crofty reckon that 15 laps is the life of the super soft tyres.

Also the track is significantly warmer now, so we'll see how the tyres react to that.

Raikkonen and Grosjean on the soft tyres they used this morning. Raikkonen has just hit 30 laps on that set and they still have some pace in them.

Can merc get pole
Will anybody be able to manage 1 stop
If someone can manage one stop and get pole position that would surely be A win

What I'd love to see is a two stopper on pole trying to get a pit stop in front of a potential 1 stopper :-)

Looks like it will be a 2 stop for the top guys. For anyone to manage a 1 stop they would need to start on brand new tyres, so it will either be the Q1/Q2 leavers, or someone not setting a time in Q3.

Supersoft runners don't seem to be setting fast times at the moment. Raikkonen goes top, but on his 5th lap.

They seem to be taking sector 2 very slowly, 5 seconds off the pace slowly, and 6 seconds in sector 3...

Dead pigeon.

Or dove.

This pigeon is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late pigeon. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't smeared it on the front wing, it would be pushing up the daisies. It's run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-pigeon.

;)

And Grosjean's in the wall at St. Devote.

Ha ha!

Broken the front, heavy thwack on the rear as well. Sidepods took some of the impact too.

I'm not a fan of the circuit, or the race here, but the marshals always do one hell of a good job here.
