Monaco Grand Prix 2013, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

I can't see how the protest about the test would affect this race result.

From what I've read online, All the teams were contacted last year about the possibility of being offered the opportunity to test and many didn't reply. Red Bull were one of the non responders.

Mercedes were one of the teams who said yes.
As did Ferrari who apparently did a test at the start of the year, but in a 2010 car.

Pirelli asked for a representative car. That's exactly what they got.

If they asked the FIA, and they said yes to running the 2013 car, then there's no problem.

Wonder if merc will start putting more eggs in nicos side of the garage now....

They aren't going to be a championship contender unless they sort out their tyre wear at higher cornering load tracks. They have 2 quite equal drivers, no point in focusing on one.

Exactly. All the teams knew about the test, all the teams knew Mercedes were running a 2013 car. They just leave it to the last possible moment to kick up a fuss in the hope of unsettling the team to get an advantage in the race.

It's all part of the game. If anyone should be annoyed it Ferrari for not realizing they could run a 2013 car when they tested in Bahrain.

One things for sure, Pirelli are going to be spoilt for choice for teams for any further tests they do :)

Oooh.. Bitchy Vettel.

Was expecting two silver arrows but got two busses going for a cruise...

May have been two busses, but they were still faster than you... :p

Surely a dodgy comment when anyone could just respond with 'So how does it feel to lose to a bus?' Just setting yourself up for a fall with that one :p

Princess Charlene. Oh wow. I'd prefer coming second just to get a kiss from her!

I think Vettel is loving today. A kiss from a beautiful princess and the only ground he has lost is to Nico who is nowhere near the fight for the WDC.

Today will feel like a win to Vettel.

Horner in the RTL interview to Niki Lauda:
"Congratulations the test has obviously helped you"

Toto Wolff's response when the interviewer told him what Horner said:
"The word sore loser is what comes to my mind"

:D

I get the point about teams not responding so how can they complain now - I still feel uneasy about the tyre testing rules stating a 2 year old car should be used however Merc using a current 2013 car.

This to me is what needs to be looked at

(as long as the same chassis is used, its irrelevant to Pirelli what car is used in the tests - however there is a huge benefit to the team getting to test tyres potentially for the next race, even on a different circuit, on their current car)
