Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

the safety car rules are whack. They should just get everyone to stop on track and maintain the same gaps that they had. That way the problem wil be cleared much quicker and evertything is fair.
Stopping the car would cook the engine. Not only that but all the heat would go out of the tyres, breaks etc. Also how would you measure these gaps? Just telling everybody "to stop where you are" would not end up being fair. f1 is down to very fine margins. I could go on with other reasons why it's a silly idea like the other guy said, but I'll stop there :p

Can just imagine a bloke who'd have to go running around with a tape measure to make sure they all stopped the correct distance apart!

:( Kimi got hit by Chilton? ruined his race and behind a damn safety car.

This, the fuel issue for Rosberg, is why Hamilton sitting 2 seconds back wouldn't help in this race, he needed to put Rosberg under pressure to increase the chances of mistakes, using more fuel, causing an extra pitstop. Sitting 2 seconds back would make this a VERY easy win for Rosberg, keeping him under constant pressure was Hamilton's best chance.

With the myriad of technology we have at our disposal these days im sure there would be some way of doing it :p

I didnt really think about the engines over cooking though. That might be an issue.

Lewis has nothing to lose by having a go. If they both go off he stops Rosberg taking 7 points off him - sure the team will yell at him but he won't care and Mercedes can afford to lose the constructors' points tbh.

Well if Rosberg is getting critical on fuel Hamilton just needs to keep the pressure up, either Rosberg will do something stupid and push to stay ahead and eventually get to a point in the race where he has to go WAY slower to actually finish the race, because you can save a little bit every lap or need to save loads over a few laps. So big pressure could make Rosberg make a mistake or if he continues to save fuel sensibly then Hamilton needs to get closer and take advantage before he's safe on fuel.

EDIT:_ Hamilton appears to be losing a few tenths now while Rosberg should be getting slower, maybe not saving the fuel he can or maybe being that close is hurting Hamilton's tires, better to try and have tires drop off than do nothing though.

It would be a pretty cynical move. Not saying it won't happen though....
