Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Makes me want to puke. I prefer the feirce rivalry. There should be no compassion between them two since either one will win the drivers championship this year.
It won't last. If anything the fact that they're friends now is likely to make the rivalry even more intense if it continues to be close.

They'll be friends for now, but wait till the last 5 races or so where the points really start to matter. They'll explode again. (Assuming Mercedes let them race on equal terms the entire season that is - I'm hoping they wont elect a '#1' towards the end of the season)

Good. I hate it when drivers act as wingmen. It sucks the confidence, competitiveness and racing instinct out of them. Look what it did to Massa being number 2 to Schumacker and Alonso for so many years.

I don't think we really need to wait until the last 5, I can see it be a re-occuring theme after every where they are close.

I can see the team might want to use some team orders, especially if there is an accident between them at some point. Even if there is an accident I hope they wouldn't bring in team orders though would understand why they would want to. I can't see them making one of them #1 though, they are so far ahead of everyone else Merc know that short of anything huge they are going to finish 1 2 in the WDC and it isn't for the team to decide that.

Do people honestly think if Mercedes tried to implement team orders either driver would listen? Short of sabotage (cue the tin foil hat brigade) there's very little the team could do to stop them racing.

Trying to impose orders now would just make things worse. Mercedes have to just grin an bare it, and pray they don't crash into each other.

Plus, you would only impose team orders if there was a challenge from another team that meant you needed to maximize one drivers points, and that's certainly not going to happen any time soon.
