The not quite so much money no object Build (gaming)

Well my birthday is in November, I've had Crysis on pre-order since February and have been playing the demo over the weekend. It's apparent that my duo core twin 1950XTX rig doesn't cut the mustard any more.

So I thought.. sod it...
Ultimate PC build time.
AT the moment I have A Lian-Li PC60 case but it's looking a bit tired tbh.
PSU is an Enermax Liberty 620w
Maybe the M/B can be reused to..
That's an Intel 975something lol.. Bad axe rev 1.0

What's the best rig that can be built from OcUK?

Extra storage not required as I have "lots" on the network pc
DVD/RW not required as I will thieve it out of this one.
Sound card not required as it's SPDIF'd out to my AV amp anyway.
monitor not required either (currently have the 24" Dell)

Could try this...

just need to add some 1/2 inch ID tubing from somewhere and a bunch of yate loon fans, and make an external radbox... Perhaps not so simple

Never done any water cooling before so that bit is going to be a bit new, always up for a challenge. :D

Have got the basics sorted I think, going on what's been said above, Although I can slim it down quite a lot as there is this rig here (the one I'm typing on) that can be raped and pillaged for all the little bits..
Already have a Raptor (used to have two in RAID stripe but one shuffled it's mortal platter)
Already have a DVD-RW drive (although may think about going bluray with it) (Have the PS3 for now though, so no rush)

Here were my thoughts whilst I ate my dinner.

Will have to scratch my head over water cooling kits now though as I have no idea there.
Could always just dump the whole lot in the deep fat fryer. :D

*edited as I forgot the M/B lol

PLEASE do the following:

Buy a Q6600 G0 (£170) with a Tuniq Tower 120 aftermarket cooler (£35) and overclock it to ~ 3.4ghz instead of buying the QX6850 for £650. If you like giving money away, please just give the £400 you'd save to a commendable charity.

Yea true...
Was just scanning down the list looking for the fastest stuff TBH, but since the duo core I've got at the mo, I don't know which lesser model clocks best..

*It's my own fault for naming the thread Money no object... :D

This is what I'm thinkin':
overclockersukyourbaskecd4.gif

Add a 30" monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

The Seagate HDDs should outperform a Raptor and should be nice and quiet. The WD disks are for storage and such. Mirror them if you want a bit of data protection.

Watercooling would also be nice as was mentioned above. Perhaps try it on air first then if you want you can go to water. :)

Hold fire on the Audio cards too (unless the M/B hasn't got a SPDIF out put anyway.)
I have it all connected up to 500 quids worth of Denons finest

Got the dell 24" now, not going to upgrade that for a while..

Seagates outperforming raptors   since when. :o, I thought the raptors were king of the hill?
