Money to spend ...so many options..

Ok, a few of you guys are really making me think now..you seem very happy with your furys but in real terms based on my system how would frame rates compare between the fury and the980t in titles like gta v or bf4 and the new battlefront game. I know it's not exactly out yet but I'm sure somebody will have rough idea....If we're only talking a few frames then the fury may still be a possibility..

Battlefront benchmarks in this thread here, 1080 and 1440p.

I dont own gta myself but do play a bit of bf4. Any of the cards your considering should have no problems running it.

IMO anything than a 980ti doesn't make sense. Fury is considerably slower than 980ti and doesn't OC well at all but you're still paying >400. Plus, if you go with Zotac 980ti you have way longer warranty as well. I'm an AMD fanboy but even I wouldn't buy Fury, except maybe if I go SFF (Fury X/Nano).

Its not considerably slower. Only when overclocked a 980ti is at a push 15% faster. 63fps vs 70fps in battlefront for a fury pro vs the much more expensive 980ti. Not enough for me to buy it. And that's a fairly high overclocked 980ti.

You must remember that BF is an AMD flagship game though and in no way representative of general performance ;)

I would get a 970 or a 390 and wait to spend big money on the true next gen stuff.

Thing is, the Fury line are getting constant improvements via drivers. Wouldn't surprise me if in a year it's 20-25% faster than it is today!!

My main beef with AMD is Crossfire support/problems, but that's another story...

Well, that's why I am recommending the OP to buy a 970 or 390. I wouldn't buy a really expensive new card now without knowing what Dx12 will bring to the table.

A single 970 or 390 will feel like a massive improvement over what he has now. It's just because the OP doesn't upgrade that often it would be a shame to spend big money now with both DX12 and true next gen cards just around the corner.

I think the Fury (none X) is the best bet to last as AMD cards seem to give good performance for a long time. The R9 390 is the best value card but think most will recommend the 980Ti at the £500 price point.

If you know where to look you can nearly get 2x 390X for £500 ... I picked up a 390X for a friend on my way back from Poland 3 days ago. £263 ... LOL. Whilst it's not quite the case in the UK, in many of the EU countries the 390 and 390X (and 380) absolutely blow NVIDIA out of the water in bang for buck.
