Mongol Rally trip 2012

After over a year of planning and prep we finished the 2012 Mongol Rally on 17th August aprox 16.00 Ulan Bator, Mongolia local time. "they are 7 hours in front of the UK"

It took us 5 weeks and 1 day and we did 8252 miles. Not one single puncture :)

Only car problems were broken exhaust in Uzbekistan which we got welded in 10 minutes for $15 :)
And we got some crap in the engine that was possibly from a river crossing a day from the end in Mongolia. Car juddered to a stop near the top of a very LARGE hill so we towed it to the top and jumped it down without stopping for about 10km it suddenly come back to life firing on all 3 cylinders and we screamed like kids who'd just seen santa in real life..

Most amazing surreal and at times humbling experience of my life... worth every second it took to plan and complete.Even the bad time were good!!

So far we have raised over £2000 online for UK and Mongolian children's centres This is still being added too up to 0ctober, our car is up for auction in Ulan Bator Mongolia and the proceeds will go towards helping Mongolian children. We also gave 95% of our gear for car repairs and camping+medical supplies to locals who looked poor beyond belief. Brought me to tears at times the gratitude that they showed us.

Thinking of doing it ? go get it done in the next few years before the massive road projects in Kazakhstan and Mongolia are finished and make it too easy for people who are looking for a challenge..

Got a diary I kept on my phone, just needs putting up. but once i actually do that it will mean its all really over. Not sure I can handle that feeling at this time :(
