Monitor For gaming & Graphics

I love films too, but with a brand new 55" TV in the lounge, I never find myself watching one in front of my PC, and can't see that this monitor, lovely though it is, would change that tbh. Good for games though.

very nice i have to admit i never looked at it that way. I feel though in terms of its form factor though for my current desk space i dont feel it would fit all that well horizontally. I really think though i have narrowed it down thanks to you all and i think its going to be between the Q2770PQU and the S27A850TS in time when i get enough cash

hi me again back to annoy you all lol

anyways settling in on the Samsung Monitor but before purchase i see that the Samsung S27A850TS has no solid reviews and it doesnt show up on samsungs website all i get is S27A850T not TS. Is this a stupid question?

Also is the S27A850TS out of stock or something as it states ETA: Overdue?

anyways seen this other monitor by samsung which is the S27A850D. Also here is a review for it.Would this be anything to go by when judging the S27A850TS?

Question is really... is the S27A850TS a new updated version of the S27A850D or are they totally different?

il take your advice and say i really like the Iiyama Prolite X2783HSU-B1 27". Reviews say no ghosting even though its a 4ms monitor... what you guys think? Im liking the price also and with this calibration can i do it myself?

Don't think you'll see any difference between a 1ms or 4ms monitor because you wont. Any monitor under 16ms is perfectly adequate for gaming and there are plenty of reviews on TFT Central which support this.

think people have it in their head and perhaps that is what they are thinking of much like myself. "oh thats 5ms so thats gonna be crap" but you are right it really isnt. TFT central are great wish they would do more reviews sometime on samsung monitors

have you read through that whole article nexus18 upon the samsung monitor? apprently ocuk are signing off this del with samsung to get these monitors at such a reduced price and then think i seen gibbo say "samsung made too many" hence the price

So guys think this is the be all end all of this topic.

At the end of the day, you buy a monitor for gaming or you buy a monitor for graphic design and illustrating.

I think that by using a larger monitor it will allow for my film, tv habits to be satisfied as well as being able to connect via my macbook pro and drag pieces across to it for mor workspace.

Then when i am doing work i might work on the monitor and then choose the colours for my work on my macbook because its retina display is the job for that. whos to say il even use the big monitor much for graphics??

Anyways thanks guys for all the recomendations and advice upon what i should go for its been great. I was overcomplicating things too much and at the end of the day i dont have much cash at the moment so i shall work with what i can afford and then work from there.

any questions?

Nope haven't read all of the thread on the Samsung monitor, I'm sure it will be a good monitor though.

An IPS, PLS & VA monitor is perfectly good for all types of usage, they just don't excel in response time/motion clarity and input lag like TN does and you will find that the majority of people out there and on these forums are more than happy with their IPS/VA screens for gaming.

Another monitor that you could always consider but it is 24" and 1920x1080:

Although it seems to be a bit of a lottery getting a "good" one:

If its not already been suggested, the super wide screens are a good choice for film, tv and gaming. Nexus has the 29" and I used to have it. While it was indeed a superb monitor for all the above uses, I felt it could have been slightly higher but keeping the same resolution.

I can't link on my phone but there is a thread on the 29" monitor in the monitor section with pictures. It maybe a good compromise.
