Monitor issue?

I'm experiencing issues with blacks. I get a lot of 'blocking' of the colour.

Hard to describe, but I hope the video clip below works.

I don't seem to notice it in games. I've taken a video of a paused video to hopefully show the affect.

Jays2cents videos show it up the worse, not sure why.

I've tried two different cables, I suspect it's the monitor. Can anyone confirm this, or guide me to further tests?

Couple of questions. Has this just started or is this a new monitor?
I’m not sure if it’s my internet but the quality of your video is extremely poor, very difficult to make out the details.

If I was guessing I’d say it just sounds like your black levels are way off, perhaps a boosted Gamma or darkboost for example.

What monitor is it?

Yeah that second one was a bit better.
Honestly it just appears to be a case of sub-par tech.
Electriq are known for sourcing panels that weren’t considered good enough to pass quality control elsewhere.
For the most part the monitor sector is one of those where you get what you pay for.

As I touched on before, make sure your Gamma isn’t set too high on both the monitor or on your computer. You can lower the Gamma using the Colour Management tool in windows although that can lead to loss of detail altogether in the blacks.
