monitor problem

just finished playing sc2 and noticed an odd problem with my 3 month old monitor , it has just started with this issue and nothing i try has worked . is it borked ? , it is the Acer v243Hlbmd 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor .
what can cause this ? , the dark part in the top middle

Try gently pressing and rubbing the spot with a microfibre cloth and any proper screen cleaning solution (or IPA) you have. Does it look the same from all angles or does it change colour along with the image on the screen? It could be that they've given you defective a coating or plastics which does sometimes happen.
 
i have been to the store where i purchased it and he said i would need to contact acer , which i did on his phone . acer gave me details to arrange for the courier so i had to contact DHL to get them to collect it . they also said do not send it in the box it came in due to not enough packaging , i will need to wrap it in 5cm thick bubblewrap at least (cost me £12) .
if it is damaged by DHL during transport i would have to pay for the repair , and if it is a monitor software problem i would have to pay £68.50 for the repair as this is not covered . i puchased this monitor on the 30th of april this year and i am very unhappy about this , they tried to make it sound like i had damaged it . it has been on my desk since new so how can i of damaged it , sound like acer is cr@p tbh as it seems a very poor warranty service they provide
 
I haven't had the misfortune of dealing with Acer's customer services department, but that really doesn't sound acceptable to me. Let me know how you get on - your experiences are being noted. :)
 
i will let you know , DHL is picking it up tomorrow between 9am and 5pm . i was going out tomorrow as well :( , i always thought acer was a good brand but i now know they are as bad as the rest tbh
 
Under the sale of goods act the retailer is responsible for the first six months and any costs incurred should be footed by them, as the fault is within six months of purchase it would also be up to the retailer to prove it is not an inherent fault. So you should have reminded the retailer of his legal duty under the sale of goods act (it's a shame you can't name and shame them on here TBH). Thanks for the heads up on Acer, I'll know never to buy or recommend one of their products. I believe manufacturers should in the UK direct customers back to the retailer within the first six months as ignorance of the sale of goods act is inexcusable for both them and the retailer.
 
well DHL have just collected my monitor , so i hope it will not be long for it to be returned . anybody had a rma return from acer before , if so how long did it take ?
 
Here the link. If you google "sale of goods act" you will find many more links which may be helpful. I must admit that I still find it surprising that retailers and manufacturers offer poor customer service, whilst they may save a few quid here and there, don't they realise that a bad reputation can cost a lot more.
 
well i rang DHL and they said it had been delivered , the acer online support says under repair . i hope it will be returned soon , find it odd that they will repair it sooner than replacing it
 
still waiting to hear anything from acer , they have had it since tuesday and not even let me know they recieved it (had to phone dhl myself to find out) . hope i am not waiting this time next week . anybody know the phone number for acer uk ? , one on the acer site is incorrect according to the rude persion who answerd
 
just rang acer again , they said it could not be repaired and will be replaced . the order for a replacement went in on the 6th of this month , but it will take 14 working days before i get it . this will be the end of the month will it not ? , not happy on how long it will take tbh
 
it would have been nice to have been informed that my monitor was coming today , next door rang me and said i had a delivery waiting out front . acer said 14 working days , what a bunch of morons they must be . but on the other hand i have a better monitor now i think , the one i sent had a refresh rate of 5ms and the one i got this morning is 2ms
