Monitor Query with native resolution Trouble

Actually, it's also at least on the Finnish site. US site has V model, which also comes with DVI-D. At quick glance it would seem like the S model is mostly UK centered. Though because this is a UK site (and a good chance the poster is from UK, too), it's highly possible it's the S model he has...

Instead of trawling the LG sites of the world I'll wait for the OP to let us know exactly what model it is and then take it from there.

I do apologise for the late response guys i got called out late last night with work....

The LG monitor that she has only has a vga port at the back of the monitor and no dvi input.

That sorted that then.

And...

Right click on the desktop and select screen resolution.

What resolution is the desktop running at?

Click on advanced settings and the monitor tab, what refresh rate does it show?

When right clicking the Desktop settings, Ive changed the resolution to 1980 x 1080 but for some reason says its identifying it on monitor 2? its also showing as 60 refresh rate

How many monitors do you have showing in Device Manager?

If you have more than 1 then perhaps try uninstalling them (or the one which you can identify as erroneous) and restart the PC and it'll hopefully just pick up the single monitor.

If it's being seen as a generic non PnP monitor then your system probably has no idea what resolutions it supports.

Try right clicking on the monitor in Device Manager and select "scan for hardware changes".

If that doesn't do anything then try uninstalling the monitor and then restart the PC and see what it's detected as.

Still no joys :( tried scanning for update than uninstalled after that failed, re booted and still suggests it is a generic monitor....

In the nvidia control panel it says under connectors : VGA - Pc display

mine is detected as pnp monitor, but its a few models up e2260

heres the driver version it uses,

funny how no drivers are available to download from lg for your e2240

idk if googling that driver version/installing might help you

Right click on the desktop, select screen resolution, click on advanced settings, click on the monitor tab and untick the box which says "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display".

You should now be able to select whatever resolution you like but be careful not to select one your monitor can't support.

Presumably you're safe selecting 1920x1080 @ 60Hz.

Try that and see if it ripples through into the game settings.

Possible solution (if all else fails)

OK, this will be kind of a drastic measure, but you could try using an application called RefreshLock. It basically allows you to force a certain resolution to be used with a certain refresh rate, and if I remember correctly, even force any user-preferred combination to be used at all times. I think the application is first and foremost designed for CRTs, but it's worth a shot if nothing else seems to work. But be warned, you can even force modes that your monitor won't be able to support.

Oh, and some games won't allow the resolution/refresh rate change, and might crash with an error notification. I don't remember the last game that did that, but the game's intro was somehow incompatible with the RefreshLock, and I had to alt-tab to enable it only AFTER the intro.
