Monitor sizes in 1995

Can't remember the name of the company who made my 21" monitor but it used a Trinitron tube. Was amazing at the time; 1600*1200 goodness playing CS!
 
14" VGA 640 x 480 in '90 or '91
15" 800 X 600 in about '94
17" 1024 x 768 in about '97 or '98 This lasted me until 2010 when I went 24"
 
From memory most machines came with 14" around this time, 15" was an affordable upgrade and the 17" stuff was pretty expensive.

mitsubushi diamondtron :) anyone worth theyre salth had one, tho took up huge amount of desk space
 
Not sure if it was exactly 1995, but in the 90's I had the following monitors:

First monitor was a 14" CRT (Packard Bell) that could only do 800x600 @ 75hz (I think) but even then it was quite blurry.

Second monitor was a 15" CRT (CTX) that could do 1024x768 @ 85hz and looked pretty sharp.

Third monitor was a 21" CRT (Fujitsu) that could do 1280x960 @ 100hz or 1600x1200 @ 75hz. Was usable at 1600x1200 but at 75hz I still noticed flickering.

After that I got my first LCD monitor, but that was well into the 00's.
 
502 visionmaster pro (21") behind me with a manufacturer date of june 98, I think I got it that july.. lasted until '07 before it bit the bucket, was a good investment (and I think I didn't pay hardly any more for it than you did your 17" one).

In '95 the 14" screens were a main staple, soon to be phased out, but we weren't selling anything smaller than a 14 in my store from at least 92-93+

I think even the Amiga/ST monitors were 14" models too, and Commodore popped its clogs before '95 also.
 
Pretty sure mine was around 14", I was very young though. I do remember it having manual brightness/contrast controls, no OSD back then. I also remember getting a new computer in around 2000, with a 17" LG Flatron monitor, flat glass, touch buttons for the OSD, it was incredible at the time :D Wish I still had it actually it's better than most LCD's I've had, such a sharp and bright picture on it.

See, even then people knew that 1200 vertical pixels was the way forwards, none of this 1080 nonsense :(

They were really good, it was recommended to me at the time as they were using it for graphic design, i didn't like the shape and went instead with a 19" taxan, it still works.
 
either in 98 or 99 we bought a high end family packard bell (still got some bits of it in the attic...) which had a 17" monitor. That thing was MASSIVE.
 
Ah memories.

Apricot Pentium 90 with a 15" Flatron I think it was called.

heh desktop cases, dunno but its made me think why they were fazed out. i gess you could say most htpc cases are descended from them
 
I had my first pc in 1995 for christmas from my parents. It came with a 15" screen which was considered pretty big at the time.

Its was a P120 , and i remember i broke it on the first day.
Thankfully to my surprise the support line was open on Boxing Day and i remember him taking my details and confirming the spec and commenting on 'how awesome the system was" :D

Full spec was
P120
15" monitor
1GB HDD :o
16mb Ram
Win 3.11 FWG and DOS 6.22
Gravis Ultrasound Soundcard
and a x16 speed cd reader
I cant remember what gfx was installed, but it did have a TV Card.

I got an iiyama visionmaster 17" in early 1995. Cost me about £600 ex vat from memory.


It is still going strong sitting on a desk at work where it ended up when i swapped over to a 21" in 1998
