Monitor Turning Off Problem

After about two minutes of inactivity my monitor goes off but the PC remains on, moving the mouse or pressing keys turns the monitor back on. Things I've tried with no luck so far:
  • The PC is set to sleep after 15 mins in power options. Tried changing the settings (power saver, balanced & high performance) but still happens.
  • The proximity display on the monitor (XG27AQDMGR) is turned off.
  • Tried 2 different DP cables and HDMI.
  • Tried different connectors on the 9070XT.
  • sfc /scannow - no problems found.
  • Found a few threads about a registry entry but this did nothing.
  • Uninstalled drivers with DDU and re-installed them.
  • Tried 2 different monitors.
  • Re-seated the GPU.
  • Turned off power management wake up in LAN adapter.
I can pop out of the room, come back and it's off. It's just annoying as it's never happened before. Any help/advice appreciated.

Do you not have a setting for screen off in power settings, rather than just computer sleep / hibernate?

Yes, sleep after 15 mins and screen off after 5 mins. I've changed the screen off time but it still does it.

Is it the screen saver overreacting? (the monitors screen saver, in the OLED care menu in the OSD, not windows screen saver)

The Asus website says it dims the screen after 2m, when not detecting much pixel motion, I guess for burn in protection.

Did you change the power mode in the monitor OSD as well?
Yes, tried that but I need to use performance mode otherwise some of the settings are locked out. It's working but just annoying as it was fine and then all of a sudden it started turning off.

Don't suppose the monitor does automatic firmware updates?

Don't think so but I'm on the latest one. I'm sure it's more a Windows 11 quirk but I can't be bothered to do a clean install at the moment.
I'd be surprised about that myself, is Windows sophisticated enough to go "oh, OLED, turn it off!"?

Though could be a bad interaction between installed software and Windows.

True but it also did it with the IPS panel I tried too which is why I'm thinking it's something in W11 or perhaps something I've installed that's overriding the setting.

All i can think of is a software that edited the registry directly, or maybe that saved a config file somewhere that even though you uninstalled it, it is still somehow committing the setting.

I have recently got an Asus OLED monitor and turned off that proximity thing and I think I have turned off the pixel cleaning but still the screen periodically turns itself off for about 1 to 2 secs even during a game - anyone else get this and suggestions please
