*** Monster Hunter: Wilds Thread ***

Not sure why they are doing this open test. I saw a YouTube video 2 weeks ago that said the build would be the same as used in the first test 2 months ago or so.

So my 13700KF is capping out to about 110fps with the absolute lowest settings possible. DLSS quality to performance makes almost no difference and RT has very little impact on performance. Overall I'm fairly happy, but I wish it wasn't so CPU heavy.

Getting lots of negative comments regarding performance on forums.

The engine wasn't great for DD2 and performance tanks without Ai to make more frames.
It's the same build that we've already played on. I don't personally have much hope for the full release suddenly being ezpz to run but hopefully things get a bit better.

Benchmark ran as awfully as the first OBT on my rig with some horrific lows. Considering the months since then were supposedly focused on optimising performance, I'm seriously unimpressed.

Maybe for the full release but as mentioned this is the same build you tried the last time....

Even the benchmark? I know OBT2 is the same build, didn't realise the benchmark was - given they've changed the sys requirements for it and all.

Seems a little redundant to release a benchmark on a 4+ month old build tbh.

Don't get me wrong, it is odd to release the same build. I won't be pre-ordering until I see some performance reviews from the full build. Even though I'm on a 4070super / 5800x3d combo.

Capped at 116fp (by nvidia reflex) on 4k ultra with dlss transformer preset k quality and framegen, and it literally holds it that way the entire time, even during the grassy area. Not a single dropped frame. No problems on my end. Of course, the hardware helps ;)

If I turn off vsync which removes the cap, the average is 127fps. If I use performance preset it's something stupid like 165fps. I'm still figuring out which scaling mode I want to use, as the only way I can tell the difference is literally on people's eyelashes.
I'm definitely sticking with framegen, the nvidia app reports PC latency as only 45-50ms which on a controller game like this is still faster than 99% of console games

Kinda funny that it only reached the score Capcom considers "good". I don't understand gaming benchmark scoring.

This is a bit of a shame. I was looking forward to getting stuck into this - I played a bit of World, but I came to it very late, so when I started it, I got the "starter" armour/weapon set, and thought it was a bit weird how I was steam rolling everything (I had played MHFU a lot, so was somewhat familiar with things). Then I read that that starter set was introduced a few years after release, and it was specifically overpowered to get you caught up faster, then I got a bit annoyed that I wasn't getting the proper grind experience and I lost interest (about 50 hours in at this point).

Looks like I might have to wait a few months before trying this.

I think it bases the "good/excellent" Stuff off of the total score which as far as I can tell is based off of true fps as opposed to frame generated.

The benchmark has the improvements of the final version, it runs considerably better than the beta.
