For example I opened a Halifax account to take advantage a switching offer. It required £1,500 to be paid in each month. As soon as I tried to remove any of it though, my account was locked. Not only my Halifax account but every account or service with the Lloyds Group.

As for Monzo, yeah it works well as a basic account. They do a big song and dance about adding new features (mostly stuff other accounts already have), then you find they only for premium customers. That's one thing I like about Starling. New features and improvements are there for everyone.

Chase is still lagging behind on a few things.

I've been a monzo customer for about 5 years now I reckon, but have just signed up to Starling for the virtual cards - which monzo only offer as a premium service.

I've use Starling as my main bank for 6 years now and I've never had a problem at any ATM. Yes, Starling are not LINK members but it doesn't stop the card from working.

Don't most Link ATMs charge for withdrawals anyway? Not sure that'd be a deal breaker for me tbh, I'd sooner go without drugs than pay those fees.

'Cos that's all people use cash for, right? Drugs?

You need to find the drugs that'll make you take the Link ATM home with you.

It certainly does. Fair few ATMs I've tried haven't worked.
Only machines with MasterCard on them work.

Haven't seen a solely link cash machine for some time. Most I see are just run by the banks, and also have link, but not solely link.

Local Sainsbury's is a link ATM card doesn't work.

I know there was an issue a couple of years back (ATM at my local Morrisons didn’t work) but they changed something and I haven’t encountered any issues since.

Must be in the minority then as every cash machine I've ever used has always accepted Visa and Mastercard LINK or no LINK.

I should add to that I have the card on Apple Pay and mainly use that.

The girl then asked if I’m paying by CC, said no. She said put the card in the machine - I did. Refused again.

I've signed up and got approved today but when I go to manage space I don't have the option to add a virtual card do I need to wait to receive my actual debit card or have the account for a certain period of time? I'll be cancelling my monzo premium once I can get access to this.

Is there any limit on the amount of cards you can generate as well?

Yes, once your card is activated the option shows up. Had me stumped for a while too, but had my card come today so was able to activate and set it up.

Upto 5 virtual cards at any one time, I believe there's no limit to the cards being destroyed/re-created though.

Cancelled my Monzo premium, wasn’t really using shy of the features.

The bill pot really needs work, the way it guesses how much you need is getting on now. You should be able to edit the amounts or put in an override. Also if you go into it, it’ll say £500 left to pay or whatever. But it doesn’t show you which debit it’s found that figure from.

Create rules for certain bin ranges is possible
