Moon and Mars

Martin, I think that purple halo is due to the time in between the 2 exposure shot? The moon moves from left to right, thus thicker purple halo on the left than right. Just a guess.

Was gonna try get Mars too, but ended up just testing a few lenses :p

Hmm you folks got the composition a lot better than I did. Decided to expose to the moon, which meant a very faint mars blob which is even fainter (invisible!) when scaled down to web sizes:

Still, moon was preddy at 400mm:

... and 550mm with the 1.4x:

Well it was interesting to see how fast everything up there moves. I won't bother uploading my picture of the moon, I think you all might already know what it looks like :D

I read this thread on Saturday night (30/1) so i took my camera outside for a few shots of the moon. Last shot of the night on my Panasonic FZ28 was on setting STARRY SKY MODE - 60 seconds ... put a 10 second timer on to avoid camera shake and took this one ..... surely on the right hand side that can't be Mars ... to the naked eye nothing was there ......

I think it is probably lens flare from the street light. There aren't any nebulas or galaxies that would be visible in that area. It definitely isn't mars though. The only thing it could be is Andromeda, but i think it is in wrong place for that.

OMG! It's Nuburi! We're doomed! :(

I didn't manage to get a shot when mars was out, because I had left all my memory cards at uni and I was home for the weekend :(

Here's a Blue Peter though!
