Moped car to come next year.... dear god why!

What a pile of ****

Just going to annoy other road users, and what 16 year old can afford 10k lol?

Can get a proper car for half that

I think if they were cheaper it would be a brilliant idea for 16 year olds. I mean 30mph giving them car experience and I take it they would have to pass a CBT before driving them on L plates without taking passengers.

The price is not realistic for most, however I think it could well do more for road safety than the other hair brain ideas they are coming up with at the moment.

No 17 year old is really gonna want this or should be forced into it after taking a full licence. But I do think these could give invaluable road experience for the younger driver.

About time new drivers were offered something positive rather than constantly being pushed down as they are at the moment. I am 39 and disgusted by the negativity at the moment branding all new/young drivers as lunatics.

Average insurance: £2,200/year (16)

Engine: Kubota 400cc diesel (79.4mpg)

The vehicle, which is powered by a Kubota 400cc diesel engine and comes with 12 months of free road tax, has alloy wheels and many typical features found in a car - including a CD player.
To qualify as a quadricycle, the vehicle, which has two white stripes on the bonnet, had to weigh less than 350kg and have a power output not exceeding 4kw - with a maximum speed of 30mph
400cc that to high to be classed as a moped

Over here 16 year olds are only allowed to ride bikes/Mopeds with up to 50cc engines..

That's going to be more dangerous on the roads than mopeds. A moped doing 28mph is easy to pass that car is going to be hard work.

How long till teens deristrict them, lower them and find sports exhausts.

Why is a car going to be harder to pass than a moped.

It is only a meter or two longer, and won't be travelling any quicker than a moped would be.

Unless you don't give the moped rider enough room when you pass them in the first place and squeeze through because you are more important than waiting a minute behind them ;)

Lets do a sweepstakes. How long til someone is killed on the road (either in the "car" or a bystander) when these things become available?

£10k with >£2k insurance... Just taxi everywhere for a year then buy a real car :p

Insurance @ £2000 a year?!

Also, I suppose it has a CD player, that's important, right?

De-restricted m8 innit!

Also this! I simply can't stand the "bt-bt-bt-bt-bt-btttttttttttttttttttTTTTTTTTT", did I mention it's the worst sound in history?

This will encourage foot to the floor driving in anyone that is moronic enough to get one.

These cars have been very popular in rural France for a while now. I recall you can drive them after you have been done for drink driving as well.
