Moral Objections to Sponsors

"Pa**** Cisse and Newcastle have reached an agreement that will see the Senegal striker wear the club's Wonga logo on his shirt despite his religious beliefs.

"Cisse, a Muslim, had previously pulled out of Newcastle's pre-season tour after telling the club he was not prepared to promote the money lending company.

"However, after a week of talks, both sides are satisfied with the outcome and Cisse is now available to play for Newcastle once again.

"Cisse has been training on his own while his team-mates have been on tour in Portugal but now he is expected to immediately rejoin the first team squad. "

Hehe.

Bet that was a fun conversation to have with him. We are going to sue the living daylight out of you if you continue to be such a complete ****. See you at training on monday?

I may be controversial here, but as a company I do not think that Wonga are that bad (in comparison to other financial institutions).

A couple of years ago I borrowed £100 from them for 2 week and paid back £120. I don't think that it was that bad, but if it was sensationalised like the media take joy in, I was charged interest of 1600%.

Compare that to Lloyds TSB who would have charged me a £30 overdraft charge for the same amount, it isn't that bad at all.

Any way, he has agreed to play now, I would guess it is under the same terms that meant Kanoute played for Sevilla in the 888.com shirt on the understanding he had to do no promotional work for them.
