I also appreciate how people want to do the overclocking themselves but would like some form of guarantee for a small premium as such I am offering two retail un-opened/sealed processors that carry an overclocking guarantee for a small premium:

We expect these too be a huge hit as the premium is small and it prevents you from getting stuck with a complete lemon of a CPU. :)

Small premium? £899 for a 7700k, you could buy two and bin the rubbish one and still be better off. ;)

Still potentially not have a 5.2GHz CPU. We find out of every 100 tested only 1-2 chips achieve this clock 24/7 stable, so you'd need to buy a lot more. ;)

Gibbo's just trying to get rid of them fast before Ryzen releases as he knows they'll be worth half as much hehe :)

Both CPU's will have their markets, Kabylake demand will be unchanged.

5.2GHz is insanely rare when your talking 24/7 stable!

Now please be honest here, these have to be de-lids then re-lids? Most of the half decent 7700K's with a re-lid can do 5.2GHz even if they could only do 4.9 prior to said de-lid.

We test before de-lidding! So 5.2GHz was stable without de-lid. The chip is then de-lidded this to guarantee absolutely stability and still leave a little headroom on the table.

End of the day, you do not have to buy, but not many chips can do this speed stable and you could end up buying 1 or 100 CPU's until you found one, it removes the gamble of the silicon lottery and for many the premium is worth it because in the long run they could be saving thousands.

When 8 Pack was a customer he was buying CPU's and graphics cards like crazy from me, then one day I said, dude what the hell are you doing with all this stuff you keep buying, he explained who he was, I gave him a job! :D

Can def see the market for these. Very glad I got one of the original 5.0 ones that I car run at 5.1 with no dramas. Me being me I know i would have crumbled and bought one of these 5.1 chips if I didn't already have this.

Who is in the market for an £900 quad core?

And if Zen does not suck I can't see how it won't impact on kaby lake sales...

The 5.2 ghz chip can do this for all none AVX stress tests at 1.325v and 5.3ghz at 1.385v again all none AVX stress tests. This was before delid!!! The single thread performance is crazy.

We have a market for such CPU from High end gamer's or business.

All the Pre Binned CPU listed above including 4.8ghz are all Delidded with the TIM changed for between 15-30c better running temps.

£60 premium for a 7700k that will do 4.8 anyway !

And that £900 quad core :D

People seriously like getting bent over by OC's.

This doesn't come with haribo it comes with a bottle of lube.

Perfect CPU's for those gaming with high refresh rate monitors or in VR where you are often CPU bound (single thread). Must hold out a little longer.

TBF this has been the market for several years. There is a new contender but not yet fully proven. The point on resale is a good one.

It's great for the here and now however as soon as more and more games start scaling with more and more cores that 5.2ghz Kaby is going to look less and less appealing vs a 6/12 or 8/16 cpu
