More army bullying

The Sun seems to have it in for the army lately. Way to go The Sun, when the Army is facing a tough ordeal in Iraq go ahead and attempt to prejudice public opinion of them!

The UK NBC kit is acknowledged as the best in the world. Gets a tad hot, but in full IPE you can still function in combat.

Tad hot is a complete understatement, in my experience with the nbc kit even going for a gentle jog with it on absolutely knackers you, it is so restrictive and hot, you can’t get enough air in. I can’t begin to imagine using it for a prolonged period. I think the most I ever wore it for was around 4 hours for a small exercise and that was horrendous, it’s so claustrophobic, you might be able to function in combat but not for long and not effectively in my opinion.

so what if some of the other guys are laughing at you choking a bit. I bet when they first did it someone laughed at them choking.

and thus the cycle continues.

The odd kicking and mickey taking brings the sufferers together

and of course that makes it perfectly acceptable.

Yep, but the point I was trying to make is that the UK NBC stuff is far superior to others (including the US), it may be hard-work, but we can still remain combat ready.

How long ago was your experience, the new Mk4 suits are much better than the old charcoal pyjamas. ;)

Would be around almost 5 years now, it wasn’t so much the suit it was the mask that got me, it was so claustrophobic and doing fire manoeuvre drills it was hard to see due to the mask steaming up and the restricted filed of view, not to mention the fact that if it had been a live firing exercise or a combat situation I wouldn’t have been able to hit a damn thing.

It was a horrible experience and I hated every second.

I hate the sun, they are always saying that they are "The Forces Paper" but are always the 1st to stick the boot in when a scandal breaks and hasn't even been investigated

I'm pretty sure the purpose of the army is to neutralise the enemy, not destroy them.
Same principle, different wording.

Neutralise, destroy. Heck, I doubt most infantry types could even tell you the difference!

They're not the same, and the fact that they can't tell the difference is part of the problem, really.

What they probably worry about most is

1)Completing the objective
2)Killing the enemy
3)Staying alive

Destroy or neutralize wouldnt mean much to them either way

Sometimes the only way to neutralize the threat is to completly remove their ability to cause harm sometimes the only way is by destroying them
