Wonder if this has anything to do with the attempt to ban internet pornography......

Interesting. It had a digital display that said '90' permanently, which was the CPU speed. Pressing turbo didn't change it. Maybe the button on ours wasn't actually connected to anything!
Fixed.That's what we all say.![]()
how come Stockhausen's rss threads live on then?
Shouldn't have a PC in their room at all (should be located in the main family area) and secondly that assumes a certain level of computer literacy.
Why is it always somebody else's fault? Can't we take some personal responsibility for things. It's a parents job to raise their children, nobody else's.
The parent in question did though didn't she? Once she identified what the problem was she took steps to rectify it.

Do you really want them danger ******* in the living room?
i have looked at naked women since 10 if not earlier.. parents can block internet access etc but all magazines and so on are still available i never had a problem finding porn.. did it change my thinking? no it showed me a womans body and tough me how the "part" is meant to be used and where exactly its meant to go..you teach your kids not to smoke drink use drugs etc.. sex is also a very important thing they should know at correct age how it works and how to be protected from STDs and pregnancy..
What I'd do if I had a kid:
1. Let him have an internet-ready PC in his room, with an XP guest account (admin account passworded), with Net Nanny installed. Make changes in the registry where he can't purge his internet history etc.
2. If the kid is clever, he might be able to circumvent the security of Net Nanny, so get one of the parents to check internet history daily, running processes etc.
3. Ground him if he abuses it.
4. Remove internet access if he abuses it once more. (by taking away the means of connection)
5. Remove PC from his room if found to be using e.g. a wireless dongle (perhaps given by a mate) in an attempt to get back online.
6. Don't give him a 3G-enabled phone until he's 16.
That's the thing that irks me about the article - if porn really was that harmful we'd see these effects in pretty much every male teenager who has ever had internet access. I guess there probably are people who have never looked at porn online, but I would expect that they're in a small minority.Parent gives developing boy free, unrestricted access to pornography then has the audacity to blame the ISP? What?
Stupid parent...
Funny though that I started browsing for porn at that age and didn't have any real issues or even develop weird fetishes etc...
The '90' was just a display generated by jumpers if I recall, it wasn't a mhz figure that was sent by the motherboard.
But it's probable that your dad's CPU was running at 90mhz and the motherboard didn't have a jumper for the turbo button so the manufacturer/builder left it saying 90 all the time. I'm guessing it was a Pentium and I think they generally stopped having the connection for a turbo button after 486 motherboards.
