More spam since registering with games sites?

I've noticed an increase in spam since registering with Green Man Gaming and the Game Collection. I know this might just be a coincidence, but I was wondering if anyone has had noticed the same thing after registering with either of these sites?

I haven't noticed anything more than the usual which gets put into my spam folder.

Only recently registered with GMG though, not Game Collection.

Looks like your contact information got sold. It's pretty standard practice these days, unfortunatley.

Always make sure you use a throwaway email when signing up to anything.

These ones seem to be trying to get me to buy prescription drugs and gamble at an online "Ca$ino!!"

It's a bit annoying as I'm generally quite careful about what I sign up to. It's all gone automatically into my junk folder so it's not causing any real problems.
