Mortal Kombat (2011)

I bought this with my birthday monies (:p) and have been playing the Story Mode. As I understand it, is this basically 'rebooting' the series in terms of storyline? I've not played an MK game since the DS version and before then only MK2 on the SNES!

Are there any decent guides online (YouTube) worth reading/watching? Having only played the Story Mode I've not had much opportunity to properly try the characters out. I can see that to be successful though it's not about the special moves, more slipping them into combos?
 
I finally got connected last night - but was pretty laggy so hard to play, had a 2 win streak against Scorpion users on King of the Hill - seemed to have the edge on them using smoke; finally lost when I switched to Johnny Cage to spice it up a bit, only just mind; and I of course blame the lag!

2 Flawless Victories against Shang Tsung and then a fatality - took AGES!

Just keep retrying if you fail the condition at any point!

Don't go to character select until "Finish Him" shows other wise will count as a loss - as not only do you need a DFV you need to not lose a round in the previous fights!

cant you just do it by playing vs using 2 controllers? or it only works in arcade mode vs ai ?

Arcade vs AI. Now I'm at the stage where Shang Tsung damages me in the 1st round but I flawless him in the 2nd. Very frustrating.

Also, haven't had Pit, Living Forest or Temple come up so haven't had a chance to get the other hidden fights. This game hates me.

Been playing this Non-stop since the release.. great game, i cant decide on a main though.. i have a few faves, and a few that i dont really like, just completed the challenge tower, was expecting more than a measly outfit for Mileena, as i dont really use her.. Anyone came up with some decent combos yet? all i have so far is a 40% with JC and a 41% with scorp.

56% is my highest so far (midscreen)

Are you using a 360 or ps3? mines for the 360.. anyway, I watched a coupla vids on youtube, here's one on scorp -
... theres also one on JC, Mileena and SZ.. use them as a tutorial and then mix it up a bit, add you own :) i found them really helpfull
 
Been reading a lot that scorps x-ray is waste since its the lowest hit % out of all the x-rays. Better using special moves and combo breakers.

hmmm. I never use an x-ray unless its with a combo or special move... or to win a game.
 
Aye, but that is just one on the setups you can use.. if you watch the vid i posted, its a basic guide on stringing combos together to quite francly kick some ass
