Mortal Online has been released?

See I was in the same boat with Darkfall, by the time I started that game imo people were too far ahead of me and also the game was kinda dead.

If it developed into a 3D UO then I would pay £100 to buy it if I had to. I will wait and see if it makes it to UO-like standards first though.

Been toying with buying it since it came out but can't justify paying so much for something that very much still beta, if it was £20-25 I might have taken a punt....

Wait a second....
An MMORPG without levels.
To increase a skill you have to use it.
PK'ing - so Risk Vs Reward
If you die you can have your equipment stripped from your corpse....

Oh my word.
How did I miss this one?

well as I already said I would without a doubt pay for this game the min I can steal things from other players. One of the main things I used to love in UO.

At the moment judging by forums its sounds still quite beta-ish. I think I will wait a little while till it settles down. But I just hope it doesnt lose a lot of players. Would really suck to have such a good game but it hasnt got a player base

I think I might take a punt, anyone already playing this, I assume there is only the one server at the moment ?

I'm currently playing this game and like I said earlier, it has untold amounts of potential but at the moment it's very basic in terms of, well, pretty much everything bar crafting.

If you can look past comparatively poor graphics, constant server downtime, more bugs than under your average rock, lag, mediocre performance and a whole heap of features missing then it's probably a game for you. I just don't want people to be put off for good by trying it now.

It probably looks like I hate the game when in all honesty, it's got a certain charm about it that no other mmorpg has had for a long time. I know that you can't judge a game on 'potential' but I definitely believe that this game will be the real 3D UO given enough time, it's just that currently it feels as though I'm paying to support the devs rather than paying for a complete game.

Pretty much bang on, after playing Darkfall from release and then going to try MO I can't say I'm going to play it again until the combat is sorted out because it just isn't fun.

i hope they pull it off but I doubt by the time Darkfall has it's large expansion out this year that MO will only start it's journey.

Was really interested in this, but not paying £50 to beta test a pay monthly game. Maybe when the price comes down, if its not dead by then.

One thing that has impressed me the most about this game is the weather and night/day system, obviously it doesn't add anything to game play but it creates an awesome atmosphere.

When it is dark it is DARK (i think its 4 hours = 1day in MO). The other day I was minding my own business killing bucks for their leather and I heard a thunder storm in the distance, looked up and could just make out the lightening between the trees. It slowly got closer until it was right over head. Last night it got dark in game (first time for me) and I was at the top of a large hill, I could see lightening flashing in the distance.

If you go high up in the mountains you get snow, rain comes along sometimes... awesome!

Yeah, the darkness seems to create more community spirit too as when it gets dark, it's pretty impossible to hunt so everyone heads back to town until it's safe again.

Glad to see this thread pick up, I guess they released a little earlier to get funds in for developing? As such MMOs always have a team of developers adding more and more.

I will be buying when it's got more features in it though.

The weather system sounds tremendous Dan. :D

Proper darkness! One of my pet peeves about modern mmo's is the lack of proper night time. If you didn't look up at the sky in lotro you wouldn't know whether it was day or night.

True...I had to set ..er I think it was Ambient Lighting, right down to 0 on the slider. At least that way I get some kind of darkness at night.

Its one of those things which devs put in because "but our players wont like it being totally dark cause they cant see what they are doing...waaaa....waaaaa.....sniffle..."

Then why not include torches with a limited timespan on them, and oh I dont know...spells like "Light"? You know...one of the most basic of D&D spells. Oh and how about thinking a little outside of the box and including racial infravision and nightvision so that certain races can get a nice visual effect allowing them better dark sight.... but noooooooooooo...thats just all too complicated. Lets just make the darkness all light so that the poor ickle terrified gamers can cope with it all.

+subscription paying, in there somewhere. Wouldn't want to hinder the grind!

That sort of stuff could work pretty well in terms of a PvP MMO too, night time ambushes, anti magic fields knocking out light spells, warding circles. Players being able to chose races with advantages either in night or day etc.

Stuff like that could add a lot of ambience to a game.

I can safely say that proper darkness is in. When I first logged in when it was dark, I had no torch on me and my only option was to log back out until it was light again so I could head to town to get one.
