"Player versus Player (PvP), or rather Player to Player "

What? PvP means Player to Player? Since when did "to" begin with a v?
Are they trying to change a fundemental MMORPG term?
WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE!!! /attacks with pitchforks and torches!!

Don't be so sure. Graphics can sway a lot of people

There is a lot of immersive things in the game that i think are brilliant.

Examples are praying at a shrine and climbing on the horse. Little touches like that go a very long way.

I think there is a much deeper crafting system, murder system, 1 time spawn only raid mobs and other things.

The thing is though, you will get people who thought Darkfall was rubbish going to this and people who thought Darkfall was rubbish and not playing this.

To be fair I think a lot of people will want to play this because of Ultima online so most will probably not care much about the graphics.

I agree Mortal Online looks a lot better in those screenshots than Darkfall does but when you actually play Darkfall it isn't that bad. I'm going on a whim really but I'm really hoping Darkfall doesn't get lost because of Mortal Online, because as it stands at the moment I'm only enjoying Darkfall when my guild is doing events. Staying in the town and crafting is boring me to death so I'm waiting until we get our own keep in a month or two.

If Mortal manages to get a decent kill system on the go so I can go out and grind some mobs without fear of getting raped 99% of the time then I'll be glad.

I love the hardcore feel of Darkfall but not being able to grind most of the time and not being able to trust anyone (no killing consequence in groups) is really getting on my wick.

so it's just second life with fighting? if there are no quests then what do you do all day?

You could say the same thing about Eve Online, and that's probably the most comprehensive mmo out there. Some people just don't get PvP centric mmo's.

I'd be interested depending on what the developer / publisher are like. Tasos and his crew just seem like a completely unprofessional shower of tossers, he's the main reason I wouldn't touch Darkfall.

so they have no 3rd person view point ? :sigh: leading raids in MMo's ive found you need a far out view to manage ... it looks like its going to be an fps with RPG elements..

Indeed, its ironic when people ask me what was the greatest MMO I ever played and I say UO. When they ask how the raids and quests were in it, and I have to explain to them that UO didnt have any quests or raids...they tend to just stare and gawp at me, not able to comprehend how I could rate a game so highly where you werent told where to go and what to do.

It's not aimed at raids mate, hell they're having 1 type spawn only mobs in the game for groups to take down, but it's not WoW. They don't want the advantage that security camera style views give, this way people can be properly sneaky and back stabbing :D

If you're after a quick run down of the things I thought were the most exciting on M.O. you'll find them listed here:

So maybe set up a command point somewhere with a good vantage point, or rely on scouts to do the same? Sounds good to me!

What was the most interesting after watching the slide show was that GM's can take control of PVE mobs to make a bit more challenging.

i guess you can count me in on that :D

but saying that my first mmo was planetside, which was pvp in a sense, but it was the bigger picture that was more interesting - fighting for the empire and defending and invading planets etc. if it hadn't gone **** i'd still be playing it now.

I think it's probably a similar "random generator" that Dark Age of Camelot had for most drops, only they're allowing it to apply in crafting.
