Mortgage Rate Rises

You don't need to go abroad to travel. In fact with airports and flying as it is probably won't bother again.

Its really one of my life motivators. Seeing new things. Exploring. Without travel I don't know what I'd really be working for.

I enjoy travelling in the UK too. But still so much to see beyond.

To be fair there are some beautiful spots in West and north of the UK particularly. But obviously so much to see around the world too! I want both!

Have you seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion? Or C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate?

You little earthers need to broaden your horizons. Which we don't have, what with space and all that.

If I had kids I certainly would not be able to afford holidays!

I seeded this last night.

It will not end like this

I've got twins....I couldn't fathom what he went through with triplets.

Twins was brutal work the first couple of years, almost broke me.

I can not imagine
-twins
-serious disability

Both of those sound like so much work. Can understand completely how people just can't cope. Especially single parents!
Sounds hard enough with just one!

Fingers crossed for your weather
Last time I went to St Lucia in May the rain was beyond biblical

Can't beat the Caribbean IMO, some of the best places on earth. (Not July - Nov though, avoid avoid!)
Planning on Costa Rica being my next kayaking. The USA thing put me off Cuba.

But this is for winter (uk winter) due to the seasonal rains!

There is so much more to the world than little England.

I beg to differ in some respect. I have been all over at a very young age. By the time I was twenty I had travelled all over Europe, Australia, Japan, the whole east coast of America (Kennedy space centre, Washington DC, Disneyland etc etc) and Canada. Not done South America, Africa or Western Asia but they do not interest me in the slightest.

Yet until the past 5 years I had never visited Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Lake District or even the Southwest. There is plenty to see in little old England if you haven't seen it. We have one of the richest history's in the world let alone Europe. :)

Hi readers. Yes, this is now the official "Mortgage Holders only: Can we talk about our lives?" thread.

Not a criticism at all, just a funny observation that due to the entire premise of the thread only being answerable by "no one knows", the conversation can only really stay interesting by diverting to personal things.

South America and africa doesn't interest you? Some of the wildlife down in the rainsforests looks mind blowing! Colours, sounds, richness. Yes we have some amazing stuff here. But africa and south America have some truly magically stuff!

Did you regret going to all those places and experience different cultures or would you been more happier just staying in the grey UK and not gone at all?

Some people forget how privileged we are to travel so freely coming from an 1st world country. Until that ability its taken away e.g. Covid lockdown's, terminal illness.....or not enough money due to rising interest rates :D

I too am not interested in South America or Africa from a wildlife and nature perspective. I don't know, I just am not. Also, I think those places are best left alone by people, fewer tourists the better.
