Mortgage Rate Rises

I too am not interested in South America or Africa from a wildlife and nature perspective. I don't know, I just am not. Also, I think those places are best left alone by people, fewer tourists the better.

Did you regret going to all those places and experience different cultures or would you been more happier just staying in the grey UK and not gone at all?

Some people forget how privileged we are to travel so freely coming from an 1st world country. Until that ability its taken away e.g. Covid lockdown's, terminal illness.....or not enough money due to rising interest rates :D

Obviously not and I have seen a lot but all I am saying there is plenty to occupy yourself in the UK which is equally as good. I will use the Goodwood Festival Of Speed as a perfect example. I will spend money to go all weekend that would equal a cheap holiday to Spain but it is the best motoring event in the world that we are blessed with in our own country that doesn't require going abroad. Alton Towers is one of the best theme parks in Europe and they have great hotels for guests too. Yorkshire moors, Peak District, Scotland NC500, Lake District are all beautiful places on our doorstep. Watching a football game at one of the many top football stadiums in the world. The list is endless.

Sure going to see the great barrier reef in Australia or seeing the Saturn V in the Kennedy Space Center was awesome but is it better than some things I have seen in the UK? Not really it is just different.

The whole reasoning why we spent holidays in the UK recently was because of Covid and having our second son as the missus didn't want to fly whilst pregnant. It just makes you realise just how much there is to offer here. The only negative is the weather so you need to be quite spontaneous with when you do things. We had 26 degree heat in the Lake District a couple of years ago and went very last minute over a long weekend.

Technically it is to do with mortgage rate rises as I am promoting UK based tourism to offset the increased cost of mortgage payments :p.

I'll send you a picture from Antigua in a week or so and you can compare that with a view of the Mersey Estuary :D

Actually Formby with its backdrop of deep sand dunes, pine woodlands and resident red squirrels with other wild life will suit. The other side is the Wirral and West Kirby where you can walk on the Dee estuary to the islands.

Yes, forget Antigua, for the money you can keep it, I'll have the Mersey and Dee estuaries. Nice Fish and chips and good beer.

However I expect you will be alright in your gated compound with fresh water and proper sanitation.

People will **** money up the wall until the literally can't. Its been so good for so long for most people that the idea of preparing for a rainy day doesn't even enter their brains and they will always live up to the edge of their means.

I know far far too many people who have no money but waste huge amounts of it on stuff they don't need.

Report said national average

Correct me if i'm wrong but this is Rightmove average asking prices, and just for newly added properties in May, right? From what I understand this doesn't say anything about whether or not they're going to sell at those prices, if at all.

I'm no expert in this area but surely all it takes is an increase in the supply of more expensive properties coming to market or a handful of extremely over-optimistic sellers to skew those numbers upwards and potentially give a hugely unrealistic view of what the market's actually doing.
