Mortgage Rate Rises

Well. For a little more... 9.1 acres!

Damn for my £950k in my XXXX postcode area I can only get 3.5 acres.
Oh and a house I would dread to think of the upkeep on!

I actually want about 1 acre. If we move again, thats what I would be after, 0.75-1.25 or so.
I wouldn't want more than 1.5 as an absolute max.

I would love 9 acres. To be able to walk around your garden and it take over 20 minutes to get around the whole boundary. Amazing.

It's crazy that the money doesn't scale well. That is less than 3x the price I paid for my house, but 120x larger.

You are going to love mowing that land!

I have a friend in the US with lots of land like that, when the first moved in they thought about getting some goat to do the job! But later just settled for a John Deer ride on mower thing and do it like Forest Gump.

I genuinely would yeah. But don't have to see it as a chore, can have a vast wildflower area as well.

It's the privacy of it that is appealing. And the missus would have loads of space for growing home veg.

Probably in the middle of nowhere with poor Internet connection to boot.

Gotta be working from home for sure.

Yeah. Both of us do! Hence why this stuff is a genuine option!

Little house with lots of land would be amazing. If you own it. You know a developer can't pop a new house right next to yours!

All parts of that address sound completely made up.

I love the Welsh names. They are ridiculous when you aren't used to them!

Even the county, Ceredigion, sounds crazy!

I dunno...sounds pretty doable to me :p

Not much room for emergencies, holidays, etc etc!

1k for our mortgage is a good amount

Or could go Even crazier.
28 acres? :o

Sorry, I thought you meant £3k mortgage in total (IE that was the amount borrowed) :D

I should not have looked at houses in this price tier. Just found a dream home in a dream location! :D

Yeah, its not a good idea to house shop unless you are actively trying to move. When we were looking to buy last time we saw a really nice house that had just been renovated and had a loft dormer put in etc. Apparently the wife had been "browsing" and found her dream home so they were moving just after they finished years of renovation work. The husband was...unamused.

Has anyone taken out a second small mortgage on their property to run along side their existing mortgage?

I’ve applied for extra funds through Clydesdale but they’ve rejected it based on my low credit score (my only source of credit is my mortgage) so wondering if it’s worth applying for a smaller mortgage with another lender?

I wouldn't keep applying after being rejected as you'll only make your credit score worse.
