You get a huge rush and a huge sense of union especially in a circle pit :)
Download 2005 + Lamb of God = one of the scariest moments of my life.

Yeh ok then, then someone kicks you in the face like in that video. That'd make me feel great too :p

I've never been to any metal gigs or whatever, but some of the "indie" gigs I've been to have been pretty rough.

Especially the smaller ones I've been to in Barnsley/Sheffield where everyone knows each other at the front, so people just start going mental.

I know you're probably joking, but i think there's some confusion for people that know nothing about moshing. Some of that video was moshing, but most of the 'eek' bits are hardcore dancing. People spin-kicking, throwing punches in the air etc.

I doubt there's many here that take part in that kind of stuff at gigs. As far as i know if you go to see certain hardcore bands, you go fully expecting that kind of stuff in the pit.

Even muse can get a fun mosh pit going ;d

I went on the sunday, spent most of the gig in a pit on the left hand side next to the golden circle barrier. Pit was worst for new born, it got so rough it collapsed and unfortunately for me I was on the bottom of everyone!! It was cool though to see everyone stop pick each other up and carry on rockin. Only came out with a bit lip.

It was in the same place on the saturday too, thats where i was. One girl fell over in it though and before anyone could get her up some idiots who weren't moshing got scared and shoved everyone in to try and close it, she got trampled on and everyone had to shove this wall of people back and slide her out from under them. She got lifted out and seemed to have a broken arm, though someone else said she'd broken her leg too.

The moshing was fine, no-one was hurt... just the people who were scared of it being near them and trying to shove everyone else into it that caused the problems. Which i can only imagine is due to media hype and people labelling mosh pits as something "evil".

It was much nicer being in the mosh pit than in with all the other people getting crushed into a railing.

Can anyone explain? I cannot understand why anyone would want to do this.

Are there any rules or anything? Are you supposed to try and hit the people around you or is that just happen by accident?

They all look like a bunch of ****s if you ask me, what an utterly stupid and silly way to try and enjoy yourself:rolleyes:..

Havent got much time nor respect for idiots that feel they need to barge into people to enjoy a gig etc.

That's a point. I really hate standing near the edge of a pit just enjoying the music, then someone decides it's a good idea to push people in.

What a bunch of retards, why would you want to do that??

Im not really into rock/metal/death metal/emo music.

Raves are just soo much better tbh :D :D

It's usually people who are too scared to go in that do that, i'm not sure why because you don't usually get hurt. Although i'm small so I do often catch an elbow to the face at some point.

I've seen a lot of girls being absolute s*** causing idiots at gigs though :\

Its actually a fairly similar experience. Just without the glowsticks.

I would say its not much different from jumping around in a club, bouncing into people accidently, and both people just are so into the music they keep smiling. If you imagine a whole club like that, that is a 'friendly' mosh pit.

Throwing punches is part of hardcore dancing, which I don't really understand.

I AM THE KING OF INAPPROPRIATE DANCING AT GIGS!

Whether it be the charlston in the middle of a circle pit at an ENT gig or dancing like Ace Ventura at Knuckledust, I shall be there!

*n

PS: I used to hang with a lot of UKHC kids...Damn, they were some hard pits...

A lot of that is hardcore dancing, yeah. Which I something I don't do, but is something I'm always prepared for as I go to a lot of hardcore shows. It's also the kind of environment thats not exactly safe of family friendly! Most hardcore shows take place in rather small venues too, which adds to the sense of cameiraderie.

Its much better than standing in a room full of drugged up idiots with glow sticks listening to the same beat over and over again to a bunch of records mixed together in diffrent ways.

All crowd surfers are total ***** though.

I'm pretty sure the high they get is considerably better than one gained from moshing, thought it will have it's obvious downsides lol :p

It's a way of expressing yourself to the music.
And in my case it usually involves attempting to seriously harm the emo kids that ruin the pit by windmilling.

it would say its comparable, people do what they like. I dont like drugs and raving so I would prob be bored witless at a rave.

Clearly not "emo kids" if they're "windmilling".

Few of the clips were, most were "hard core" dancing (the people trying to beat the **** out of the air). Wall of death is when the crowd split into two sections (sometimes just a circle) and run into the centre as fast as possible when the song kicks in.

Moshing is generally just jumping around smashing into people, typically not trying to hurt anyone, though of course injuries happen.

Perfect Description.

Those crappy 'Hardcore' kids really test my patience though.
