Mosh pit’s???

Bounce around, bang into other people without causing harm, pick up anyone who falls and make sure everyone stays in 1 area so those who don't want to be involved, aren't :)

Yep, although some people act like they're just there to hit people and get away with it, normally fun though and nobody gets hurt if there aren't any ****s.

The thing is, kids these days wouldn't know a 'true' pit if it ripped their leg off and beat it into them with the soggy end!

I'd actually pay good money to see some little Slipknot kiddie thrown into the middle of an early 80's Dead Kennedy's pit or a Suicidal Tendencies pit!

Explain. What were they like?

Just don't go and see Abruptum, well you can't now anyway, in Trondheim when the Odinists are around. :D

On 0:55s, is that El? :p
Did Abruptum ever play live? They were never more than a duo, and pre-split they were pretty much just Morgan from Marduk ('96—). Even if they had live members, I doubt they would have played live due to exposure.

Biohazard, Wolves Civic

I nearly ****ing died man..............i dont even like Biohazard
I don't like moshers/moshing. Used to like Biohazard though, and seeing them I literally feared for my life, especially when the huge guitarist from Knuckledust jumped on my head totally flooring me during the encore. :|

I guess they can do it so long as they keep it confined, but unfortunately that's rarely so...

This is how you do it

If anyone started moshing like that at any gig i went to, i wouldnt know whether to laugh or what. There's a big difference between moshing and the spinkicks/punching done in that video (it's 'hardcore dancing' really). A bit of moshing is good fun, but no one at any gig i've been to would dream of punching around like that -- it's just daft. I guess you'd go to a gig specifically to do that crap.

Moshing is good fun, but it sucks if you get hit bad. I went into a small pit watching Capdown at Reading, and was unfortunate enough to get caught straight in the mouth by someone's elbow about 10 seconds into the first song. Not just knocked but full on. That's when you feel a bit daft and kinda dampens the experience! :(:p

I think Wall's of Death are really bad, arent they? I'm sure i've heard stories of people dying or being really horrificly injured? Seems pretty pointless to me.

What really does my head in is people moshing or starting circle pits at ska gigs. I mean, ffs!

Skanking > moshing!

My GF would have a fit watching that video.

We went to see Muse (yes not exactly the heaviest of bands) and the crushing there (which was really quite hard to be fair) made her totally freak out so we had to go to the back. I think it was the sheer lack of space to move/getting pulled under everyone's feet that she was scared of.

Thankfully I've never been in anything like in that video, I really wouldn't know what to do as it just seems really totally pointless and it looks really stupid to boot :p

Even muse can get a fun mosh pit going ;d

As someone mentioned the pits for space are the best place to be, when the song ends or a slower song comes on you have plenty of room to chill out ^^

Zefan, Muse at Wembley? If so then yeah..a 'mosh pit' was created where i was and i made a quick escape to the side. :o It wasn't even for a good song. =/

I went on the sunday, spent most of the gig in a pit on the left hand side next to the golden circle barrier. Pit was worst for new born, it got so rough it collapsed and unfortunately for me I was on the bottom of everyone!! It was cool though to see everyone stop pick each other up and carry on rockin. Only came out with a bit lip.

When muse played the absolution tour ending to stockholme syndrome I went crazy and started a pit on myself lol. Was a good gig ;d

I was there! ;d Ska punk live is immense, great to get involved in a pit too, was a circle pit if I remember rightly which is abit more "organised".

They are playing this year I believe ^^

A friend was in this:

Crazy, 30+ secs in! :p

thing is though, they're just bodies and they really don't hurt that much, so long as no one's going out to do damage on purpose. I'm a small, skinny guy and I've survived pretty rough shows with a couple of bruises - never been badly hurt.

Cardiff arena 2006? Knights of Cydonia?

Sorry :o
I was there for that. :D Man, the front of that concert was scary, I've never seen such a wild crush. Everyone jumping around and flailing everywhere, it was like a crushed mosh. I got out of there and back around the middle area, where that little most pit appeared. I was standing on the edge of it, didn't go in.

Whilst I was fully going for it I always keep an eye out for those who are small, its just awful when people get hurt due to others carelessness. However, I do confess I was probably a small cog in the machine, so I am apologising to Zefan over msn as week speak ;)

A true testement to how brutal the front was the crowd could hardly move past the first 5 songs. People barely had the energy to stand up, let alone jump around. It was too much.

Also when I did drop back, there was a circular mosh pit which I was at the edge of to get some air and someone punched me for absolutely no reason. I think thats shameful behaviour - I clearly had no interest in that sort of activity.

You may of spotted me in the centre "mosh pit" where 3-4 men started doing grand dad dancing, much to everyone elses discust, to 'Map of the Problematique' :o :D

Thats how it always used to be, it was just a pushing bouncing falling over mess of fun in the old days, back when I was moshing to bands like Megadeth - man, that was fun. Birmingham NEC.

Ah I missed out seeing Megadeth recently. I'm a big Maiden fan and their moshes are still traditional and Bruce comments when things get out of hand and tells people mid song to help each other up.
