So I'm away, using 100% deet spray and still getting bitten.

So so so many old wife stories!... Eat Garlic, V B12 etc etc

Has there been an official, recognised, study on how to stop mosquitos biting you?

Something I can take and do!, Even so they bite my wife over me :)

The confusing thing is!
, something works for some and not others!!

These things have seemed to evolutionised!!!! And now come out in the day to feed!

Any info is appreciated! From a world of stuff that doesn't work!

If you are anywhere you can get it then Tiger Balm is the stuff, both as a repellent and to deal with existing bites

If you can sleep with a fan blowing a constant stream of air over you it will help... they hate turbulence.

I'm actually convinced an individuals own specific aroma may attract or repell flying bity things.

When on holidays, it doesn't matter what my wife's sprays or uses she will get bitten quite a few times. I, on the other hand, could smear poop/honey (or whatever attracts these heathen winged creatures) on my body and never attract any bites

Maybe this would help. How we used to roll.

This what I believe too.

But considering its the number 1 killers across the world how come we don't know more about it apart from old wives stories?

This is definitely true, unfortunately I'm the "tasty" one in the family. If we have a mosquito in the room at night, I can wake up with 6-7 bites while my GF is completely unmolested

Absolutely this - my son never ever gets bitten by insects (not one bite during a 3 week jungle trek through Borneo when pretty much every other member of the expedition suffered dozens or even hundreds of bites). I, on the other hand, get bitten all the time :(

You are doomed, if they have been biting you so far they wont stop until they find someone else tastier.

Some Avon skin product is meant to have legendary repelling properties.

Google it up.

Yup - I've done camping trips where they pretty much leave me alone and others are getting dozens of bites. Wonder what the difference is.

Avon Skin So Soft

Can't say how well it worked, I still came back from two weeks camping in the Canadian Rockies covered in bites that seemed to hang around for ages. BUT, for all I know they could have been 1000% worse without the Skin So Soft, or exactly the same, who knows :)

A mate told me he never gets bitten and puts it down to drinking beer every day

So there you go, become a permanent drunk and never fear those bites again!
