Most common ways to kill a PC

I made a mistake that could have cost me dearly, but luckily it only shut the pc down.

I have a backplate with a molex connector and 2 sata sockets for external drives.
I have another backplate directly below with 2 usb sockets on.

I was trying to put a usb cable in off my camcorder and the end of the cable went into the molex connector. Pc shut off. I **** myself and was relieved when it came back on with no problems.

Very very easy mistake to make

I think that the most easy way to kill a PC is simply go into BIOS and select CPU voltage.......increase that to about 1.8v and you're good to go :p

I wonder what this entails?! :p

Hundreds of computer components every year are neglected come March. Once the inital happiness has worn off, thousands of components are thrown out into the cold, or thrust into dark garages or lofts to wither, and finally die.

Remember, computers are for life, not just for Christmas.

Oh....you've made me so sad now.I hate it when people do that:(.If I don't need something I just gave it to someone who needs it.

I generally find commenting in passing to anyone that "my PC's been running nicely" is a cue for it to get some fault that'll require replacement parts.

I was going to buy a no brand, or at least a relatively unknown brand, for my PSU when I was building my computer. Rightly I was advised against it, and I'm glad about that now.

You can counteract it by giving it a big hug when you get home and telling it all about your day.
