Most exotic/nice/horrible food you've eaten

I lived in Nigeria and went to a lot of Nigerian and different ex-pat parties and was always told not to ask what I was eating.
I know I've eaten snakes, rats, worms, crickets, maggots, sheeps eyes, goats brains and loads more but the parties I always hated were the French because nothing was ever cooked.

Curried goat in Spain - delicious meat (OK not exactly exotic, but first time I'd tried it)
Snails - The idea is repulsive, but snails in garlic butter are ace as a starter.
Cavier - fishy. Don't see the big deal.
Squid - really grown on me since I found someone capable of cooking it without it turning to rubber.

Also tried snake, gator etc as I lived in the southern part of the US for a few years (redneck country) We have land there with a decent sized lake. Plenty of snapping turtles if anyone is brave enough to fish them :D

I'm on the look out for horse meat. That's suppose to be good.

Hakarl. Got given some without knowing what it was, then found out after swallowing it.
Not half as bad as I would have expected, even had a second piece.
Don't think I'd intentionally eat it again unless I was doing so to persuade other people to try it for the reaction!

I need to try that. It sounds possibly close to as bad as surstromming :)

Tripe, my Grandad use to have it every Saturday whilst the wrestling was on. Smells disgusting, looks disgusting, tastes even worse than disgusting, makes me gag a little just thinking about it.

Ate two bowls of it in Turkey and only afterwards asked what was in it.

However, with loads of vinegar it's actually really nice.

Had fugu when I was in Japan.
Went to a high end sushi place and just asked the chef to choose for me, was actually quite good, very soft meat that just melted on your tongue and tasted vaguely like the ocean, just like most sushi :p.

As for exotic, snake or Bear. (the bear was really nice as well)

haha ive had tripe man never again. dad loves it :p its like eating elastic bands :D dont get me started on pigs feet :D

I've eaten tarantula (tasted like bbq.. crispy skin?) and guinea pig (abit like duck, quite strong. Not a lot of meat a lot of muscle)

Unfortunately shirako sushi which is "Milt is the seminal fluid of fish, mollusks, and certain other water-dwelling animals who reproduce by spraying this fluid which contains the sperm, onto roe (fish eggs)." Yes it is as disgusting as it sounds!

Also Uni - raw fish urchin eggs which were only ever so slightly better!

Not particularly exotic but one of the nicest things I've ever eaten was a Roquito chilli ice-cream, absolutely stunning, I do not have the literacy skills to put into words how nice it was and I won't be able to have it again either as it was a very exclusive one off type thing.

Cured horse tastes just like a nice cured beef! It's nice. I don't think I've had anything weird, but then again, I don't class any of the above as out the ordinary. My 5yr old loves frogs legs with a passion!
