Hostel, very, very violent, shocking and gory

hostel was on a par with bambi!

i dont understand what was so gory about it, very little of it was visible, mostly it was just blurry vision through a darkened corridor with <1second glimpses into rooms.

cradel of fear for over the top B movie style gore, altho you laugh at its rubbishness for it to be considered scary

Oh & the fact it has a semi naked Emily Booth in it...in fact thats worth the price of addmision alone ;) lol

some took as many as 4 goes to watch all the way through (Men Behind the Sun & 120 Days of Sodom both have that honour)
How was your stomach when they served dinner in Salo? I think that's the hardest my stomachs been pushed watching a film.

Do you own an original copy of Salo?
I ask because it's apparently the most expensive DVD in the world, fetching up to 600 USD and more !!

Nope. Borrowed it from a mate. I don't think it was very expensive. It's available to buy for £14.99.

I've seen so much now nothing really disturbs me.

However, the "appartment" scene in Running Scared actually did disturb me. It wasn't gory or horror, it was just horrible because it's based on something that happens all the time.

Keep the list of shockers coming though, I've just ordered Irreversible as it sounds good and got a good rating on IMDB.

I didn't think Hostel was disturbing, it was fairly gory but just like most slasher flicks. Gory doesn't mean disturbing, disturbing is making you feel uncomfortable whilst watching it. Not many come to mind, haven't seen Salo and don't really want to buy it just to watch it once (doesn't strike me as the kind of movie you could repeatedly watch).

Braindead was gory but again not shocking. Wolf Creek had one killing in it which made me cringe a bit. Not a lot comes to mind unfortunately, maybe I am de-sensitised :(

The Devils Rejects. That was a crap film but quite violent and disturbing. It did make me laugh how bad it was at some points though.

... Saw .... Cube
Pardon? Cube isn't disturbing at all? In what way? Saw was slightly disturbing, but not a sniff on Cannibal Holocaust. That 'rape and pole' scene (Without giving away any spoilers there) had me feeling ill all day.... :(

Mine was a copy from Egay so not convinced it is an original but only place I could find it at the time...as for the dinner scene that was one I had to Fast Forward...could barely cope with it :( :(

Devils Rejects is a fantastic film one of the best I'd seen for a LONG time, pretty gruesome & a little disturbing but not that bad.

Wimp, that was tame. :p

House of 1'000 corpses was quite shocking when I first saw it.

I'd have to agree, gore isn't disturbing at all, you know it's fake therefore can dismiss it.

I would say 911-Loose Change is quite disturbing because the contents are entirely relevant to our lives.

Gore doesn't bother me in the slitest, I get my scares from supernatural stuff and concepts like the Alien series. Basically any "jumpy" films really get under my skin, lol.

Only film I've ever had to pause was Men Behind the Sun...And that was only to rewind and go frame-by-frame to see what had just happened.

Couldn't agree more. The chest bursting scene in Alien still makes me jump (although only a bit now ;) Ditto the scene in Jaws where the head rolls out of the boat, but I digress a little...)

Is Cannibal Holocaust based on what a true story or not?

Kinda confusing.

No, despite it's insistence that it was :) (Just like 99.9% of the snuff movies wern't)

Nightmares of a damaged brain was pretty gruesome as I recall, as was Cannibal holocaust and Ferox. The vast majority of the original video nasties aka Spit on your grave/Driller Killer/Nailgun Massacre et-al were pretty laughable tbh.
