Most hours clocked up in a game and why?

final fantasy xi online, i think it was near 400 days by the time i quit... lots of level grinding, lots of notorous monster hunting, lots of hours attempting to do the ridiculously hard promathia missions which i eventually finished. lots of time spent in sky and dynamis too... ffxi end game was great! - the stupid thing is i didn't even achieve that much in all that time as far as end game gear went lol. still good memories though!

Anarchy Online - approx 10,000 hours in the space of 3 years. Had it installed at home and at the office.

World of Warcraft, have around 180 days played on my main plus about the same amount spread accross several alts, but that's over the years since launch.

My AO addiction was bad! :(

i stopped using xfire too, and i played before i had it so its prob over 10000 hours.

CSS had me completly addicted from the ages of 16-24. Completly ruined my education haha! Started on the publics learning the lingo and how not to be a newb. Then you start to get the hang of it. Once I got to a decent level started playing 5v5 with some goods lads and we used to do the old EnemyDown css ladder and mixes. And then you get better and go back on a pub server and see what crazy shizzle you can get away with (ie, trying to get behind the other team using your flashes and smokes and playing for that one time where everything goes your way - where you seem to be in peoples blind spots on every rush and you end up behind large groups and 1 headshotting people). Such an addictive game.

Before CSS though, came Delta Force 2. This was the first game I ever properly played online (aged about 13). Played it loads for about 3 years on the same servers (Red Meat and DinnerBell I think haha).

I think I've clocked up 195 hours on diablo 3, but other than that, at a guess I'd say fallout 3, final fantasy 7, quake 3 and counterstrike all would have high counters if it was measured. (ff7 was around 80 hours)

Some of you guys are insane with those times you've posted! Wish my missus would leave me alone long enough to rack up some times like those haha! :D

Xfire, which was running most of the time when I played Counter Strike: Source, says I've clocked up 2,633 hours. However, that doesn't include the time I played CS before I started using Xfire and the time I've played CS since I stopped using Xfire so I'd say it's probably well over 3000 hours. I think Steam didn't start counting hours played until a lot later on so it only shows 1,450 hours played.

CS was an addiction for me back in my teenage years. Started a clan with server and website with friends and spent quite a bit of time at school talking about it. Clan folded in the last year of school where my friends wisely decided to revise and do coursework properly instead. Meanwhile I just joined other clans, while I was on study leave I still played CS and did barely any revision - that was a slight mistake, but I still just about got through the exams with decent grades.

Note to anyone who may read this and be going in to exams at some point in the near future, drop the games for a while :p

I did get pretty good at CS while I was at college. We had a little outbuilding with some old PCs in which all ran CS 1.6, my class used to go in there at any given opportunity and play CS. Funny thing was I kept getting accused of hacking despite everyone being able to see my monitor :p

Very difficult to know the total number of hours as it isn't measured anywhere but I'd estimate I've played somewhere in the region of 7000-10000hrs of Quakeworld. In terms of reasons:

-It's an old game so I've had a long time to play it (about 15 years)
-Realtime multiplayer so every game is different
-Exciting and fast paced enough to be enjoyable as a pure deathmatch (FFA) game
-Very deep / high skilled TDM scene

To be honest that 7-10k estimate may be way off because at one point I was regularly clocking around 35hr/week whereas in recent years I've played it a lot less.

I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons Online for the last 7 years on and off. A conservative average estimate of 20 hours per week would put me at 7280 hours but I actually think that its probably pushing 10k+ realistically as I used to play a lot more.

Ohh my god

3 years training 2 7xGM chars on UO... thats grinding.

2 years BF1942 + for MoDs

Ok... 8 years BF2 .. I think I have 500 hours in a Jet .... 1800 hrs in total .. Wake jet whore.

6 years EVE, several chars, played on and off, PC never good enough to handle loosing $200 ship and implants

LOTROL, DAOC, GW and many others ..., but these are the ones i played a lot of
WoW. since BC probably leveled 20 chars I kid you not. Again, don't play since Cata turned me off, might go back just to see how my new systems plays out in Arenas

Football Manager player since.. 98, every single year apart from last 2, again PC problems, but I've spent a loooot of time on these, and I mean serious amounts of time i care not to think, but I spent a lot of time in the editor.

WORMS! Arrgh, my student days were all about playing multiplayer worms on the first ever play station.

Going back even further we can talk about ELITE, Wonder boy, Manic Miner, Chucky Egg, Jet Set Willy, Underwurld, Gauntlet, Quartet, Shinobi, Horris goes skiiing, Hot rasputin and all the spam ZX as fast as you can Olympic games... ahh, thats how I now have RSI.

In all, since I was mucking about with a zx Spectrum age 11- C64, Amega 500, Vic20 BBC, PS, 486 -----> i5! I have spent many, many, many hours gaming.

Think longest I stayed up was about 50 hours solid in EVE ... Those Haulers wont blow themselves up will they?! =)
