Most interesting character class in an MMO?

Any utility/support class really. I find direct damage, tanking and heal-botting all the time a bit of a bore.

Most interesting?, difficult. For dungeon parties I liked Shaman & Druid in WoW (hybrid builds). Captain & Lore-Master in Lotro. Illusionist & Bard in EQII.

I find Pet classes are more fun for soloing though.

I would say any/all of my UO characters.

In particular though I guess the 2 which come to mind the most would be my non-magic using character. Never used any form of magic at all in all the 4 years I had him, no heals, no recall, nothing. Anyone who has played UO will know what affect not using any form of magic had on your play in UO.

And secondly, my treasure hunter, had everything needed to make him a real indiana jones style character for using the messages-in-a-bottle. High fishing, mining, mapmaking etc.

Mine would be my Thief from UO. Awesome fun. I specifically trained fencing to GM along with Wrestle so that after the one of the patches (cant remember which now) where they introduced special moves for melee. I was able to disarm and then steal from fencers.... then beat them to death with their own weapons ;)

hahaha!!!!!! seen so many people doing that on hybrid :p they run up to you, pause, run away, attack, run at you and before u know it you#re swinging ** fists and geting stabbed by a very familar weapon ;)

Taoist from Legend of Mir. Could pretty much play it how you wanted it. Could go all out healing and be invaluable for grps or go all out ranged or mele. If you prefered you could let your pets fight for you and just kepp yourself buffed and healed. With the right kit you could pretty much soo where and what you liked and PvP was awesome fun as you could change tactics easily.

I really miss that MMO even though by most peopls standards it was pants it had the best community of any MMO i have played where you could genuinely become a hero or villan and almost everyone on the server would know who you were.

Thats the good thing about smaller mmo's. You feel more like a part of whats happening on your server/shard, rather than just another random face in a crowd.

Well for me it was the Private Eye in Neocron (before their 'sequel'). You could spec to use the full range of weapon types available (rifles/pistols/heavy/melee/drones); you could use the psi skills to a very high standard for shields, healing and debuffs; you could drive all of the good vehicles; you could tradeskill well enough to construct all the rare stuff or do research/implanting/repairs to a high standard, oh and thanks to the lom system you could switch between each setup as and when you felt like it. A perfect recipe for boredom avoidance!

Almost forgot, the Dark Elf Necromancer in EQ1. That class/race combo was the perfect embodiment of evil in a game.

True story, I was playing one killing good npc's and was in skeleton form when someone who was watching me for a few minutes came up and said "dude, you're scary". I think he was a newbie, but still, the sight of a levitating dark elf that kept swapping forms to leech the life of the wood elves I was killing -- with a skeleton for a pet dual weilding longswords that cackled like a maniac whenever it attacked -- might have blew his mind.

I felt sort of proud.

Hmm... I think Hybrid Monk is Neocron 1 was the most fun, back when you could spec Holy Lightning and Holy Paralysis.
Basically you were a 1 man army that could tear apart anyone and everyone, though those pesky Private Eye's with their Pain Easer's could make life very difficult.

Most interesting ?

Not sure, having not played many MMO's
Everquest two was so long ago I can't remember the class's other then I didn't enjoy them much.

Warhammer Online sucked.
Enjoyed playing a Rogue in world of warcraft, Hunters and mages (food vendors) are also good fun.

An Ultima Online Thief with pickpocket skill before the days of Trammel and Felluca.

Those were the days of Highway robbery, stealing loot at the bank and being quite the rogue :)

Trying to get back to your house with the swag was a superb challenge.

Asherons Call 1 - Battle Mage. Basically you can vuln, drain mana / health / stamina convert any of the previous to something else... i.e. stamina to mana. You can dodge, create portals, recall, etc, etc. making it a very versatile class. However it's not a predefined class you make it yourself by choosing what skills to specialize in. So realistically you could be a war mage with sword. It makes it a most interesting game and has the best skills / stats in any MMO bar none. None of this 'every class is the same' rubbish. You can individually up skills like your running speed, your melee defence, etc.

M<.

Asheron's Call rocked so much back in the day :/

quite liked my PE in Neocron a few years back, paired with a souped up Liberator gun it was so much fun sneaking up on other players end killing them :D
