starforce which for a very long time remained uncracked didnt do anything for game sales.

which showed the people who pirate wont buy your games anyway they will just go without if they cant have them for free.

some starforce games even to this day never got pirated

But then that may have something to do with the fact that many more knowledgeable users see Starforce as akin to malware and so avoid purchasing these games purely because of this. Another case of copy protection causing issues for legit users while the pirates have a generally easier time.

Wikipedia says all starforce games to now have been cracked btw (of course it's Wikipedia so might be wrong)

Unlikely given that a majority of the audience (ppl outside ocukland) probably haven't a clue about what starforce is.

all didnt get cracked and released onto the internet.

one of the piracy groups did make a tool that could beat any version of starforce via a loader/emulator code inserted into a game but it was never released to the public and they never bothered to use it on every game.

piracy groups dont care about old games they care about new releases only they dont do it for profit so loads of games never got pirated

Never forget, the average Joe in the street thinks the crimes are about as bad as each other. That's how you're regarded by joe average. Don't forget .. line both you and the perv in front on a judge -- society will give you about the same sentence. So when the chick in work asks if I could get her Imogen Heap's CD I will, no doubt, be able to set up a webcam in her shower in return? She will not feel violated in any way because she is advocating piracy.
